I'd like to say that I'd much rather have Brighton home next, than Bmouth away. But we can't even win Brighton home.
We can beat Bournemouth away. Obviously we could go 2 up and still find a way to lose, but this is a game we can win. We have to, really.
We have to. As someone living behind the lines in enemy territory, we have to. Come on Saints, do it for thereisonlyoneno7
Nah it’s fine, it’s far too early to think about Hughes not sorting out our defence. It’s not like we are 2nd bottom for points gained since he took over.
Preumably we have defensive coaches other than him. We still need sorting out at set pieces. Playing three at the back solves everything else, if Hughes will do it.
Zonal marking doesn’t work with the players we currently have, and Hughes has always employed zonal marking as a manager. So there are 3 possible ways to improve our defence of set pieces: 1. Coach the players intensively in recognising situations where zonal marking has to be adapted to cope with particular attacking tactics. 2. Change the players. 3. Change the manager. Short term, obviously the only option is no. 1, but I see little sign in games that it is happening. I know David Luiz was holding on to Højbjerg, but Barkley’s goal on Sunday showed the complete naivety of our defensive set up. They all basically just stood and watched Giroud make his run.
I'm semi-happy tonight because that draw has messed up Magic's perfect run of prediction's so far...I desperately hope that he is right about the Newcastle match though!...
Op updated and we're currently on 2 points from 5 games Beat Newcastle and it won't be too bad really, but if we draw or even lose then we'll be in a pretty bad place.
I am, the Bournemouth result was an anomaly rather than the norm. I am doing terribly in the weekly prediction thing though so perhaps I have lost my touch
