Taking it one game at a time, on last night's evidence Reading are woeful in defence but with McAnuff, Morrison and Le Fondre they can hurt you. Shaw and Clyne will have to be on their game to limit the threat down both wings. I thought Tabb was a real handful also. I think we'll win 3-1 though.
Massive game and there is probably more pressure on them! Feel as if we owe them after last season so really want to win this one!
You cannot score three goals at home, in any league, and lose the game. That is criminal. You certainly cannot score three goals at home in two different games, and take a total of ONE point. And in between those home games against Fulham and Utd, they also had a 4-0 lead of home to Arsenal in the league cup remember, and didn't win that one either. Both of our defences are poor, but at least when we score three goals, we win the game!
You may as well add Arsenal at home to this, and make is the next six matches. We're hardly going to have made any signings before kick off that evening. I actually think Arsenal are home is an easier prospect than Stoke away. So much so, and with the fixture congestion being what it will be, that I hope that we rest one or two players against Stoke in readiness for Arsenal. Even more so because Arsenal host Newcastle when we go to Stoke, and I can't see Arsene having the luxury to rest his own players in that game. They have to beat Newcastle.
So on target with 3 points today. I'm sticking with 7. Home win against Sunderland and a point at Fulham. Anyone think more?
This is what I think as well, especially given the victory today Would be great to nick a victory at Fulham as well though
I'll just add this to this thread, rather than start a new one. For those who are unaware, Villa's next three games are: Liverpool (a), Chelsea (a), Spurs (h). Sunderland's next six games (up to and including 1st Jan) are: Reading (h), Man Utd (a), Saints (a), Man City (h), Spurs (h), Liverpool (a). Reading's next three games are: Sunderland (a), Arsenal (h), Man City (a). Wigan's next three games are: Norwich (a), Arsenal (h), Everton (a). So as long as the big boys don't let us down, I don't see our rivals having a nice end to 2012. And these fixtures just mean that a draw between Sunderland and Reading this Tuesday is even better for us than it already would be. Both of them just have to win that game.
Well if we manage to do that we will have our best festive period for a very long time and Xmas spirit will be flowing readily.
