When he scored yesterday I loved the way he went straight to the fans and actually into the crowd. He has taken to us as much as we have taken to him

He is a very happy guy, but can't blame him....he said himself he never expected this start. His confidence must be flying....just what we have needed all season. Good to see Long looking delighted for him when they swapped....especially when you consider that he and Jay aren't going to get many/any starts if Gabby is fit.

His song got going yesterday with a second verse, if no one has mentioned already.

Les Reed went to Europe to buy a Lamborghini
Instead he got a striker, his name is Gabbiadini
He scores them with his left foot, he scores them with his right
And when he scores a goal again we'll sing this song all night!

...and here it is!

I recognise one of the guys jumping up and down. Went to school with him.
Not sure how quickly this song will catch on at St Marys.

Whisper it quietly, but is Gabby's right foot only for standing on?
Just thinking back to that superb run down the left, when he cut in, committed the keeper, had the chance to shoot with his right foot, but chose to hit a left footed pass, that was intercepted.
Is he really, only human?

And he had the nerve to give the verbals to the Saints player he passed it to who was being marked by 2 players. <laugh>

I've been trying to figure out which player, from yesteryear, Manolo reminded me of.
At the moment I am thinking Alan "Sniffer" Clarke, Leeds and England.
Similar ability to be in the right place at the right time, and makes the same sort of runs between the CBs.
If he is as successful as Clarke was, he could become a Saints legend.
Funny, I thought the same after he sniffed out his goal yesterday (Watford). Like you said, if he becomes as good as Clarke we are golden.

Do you mean the right foot he used to score his second up at Sunderland?

Not that I am at all complaining at our current formation (far, far from it!), and I appreciate that it's unlikely to happen much, but I am continuing to drool at the thought of Austin partnering Manolo.

Shearer and Sutton. Bergkamp and Henry. Yorke and Cole. Phillips and Quinn. And so on. It's a scary thought.

Yeah, I wondered too, but as IOAG wrote, there's that Sunderland thing of beauty. The unfathomable thing is it didn't get into MOTD2's goal of the month. Then again, Saints are invisible unless we've got players to sell.
