Our first real test - FAILED

In all seriousness a decent performance by the squad only really let down by ourselves on another day we could've nicked something just wasn't our day, bring on the red of united who lost 6-1 to City meaning technically we should win 3-0

 

Ba should have scored. HBA hits the post, shud have scored. Gosling did score. Raylor gifts 2 goals, then HBA gives another gift. What could have been. Frustrating.

Moving on.

 

Ryan Taylor, do we ever know if he's gonna be ok(as long as Jonas is a left back too) or a complete shambles... Richards brushed him off like Defoe did... effortlessly.

 

3-1 to the best team in the league away from home? Not bothered. We weren't battered. Defended well apart from Raylor's 2 moments and the other 'penalty'. We really should have took our chances but hey hey that's the way it goes. Bodes well for future games. Bring on Man Utd. I'm happy.

 

The only thing I'm concerned about is the confidence and team spirit taking a hit from this game and possibly the next two.

 

It could've been worse, just look at Utd, they lost 6-1 at their own place! 3-1 is a decent account for ourselves and we'll be up there if we continue in the same positive manner each game.

Agree with it all really, I expected a loss and we got one anything more would've been great but we weren't turned over gave a decent account of ourselves just make sure we tighten up stop giving teams goals and bounce back for united

 

This, although as Amnesiac said. We showed we won't lie down for anyone. Manure conceded 3 in the last 5 minutes, we scored 1!

 

Nope, want to see him in for Raylor, who is basically in the team for a couple of wonder goals a year. Still a toon legend for "over the wall" like.

Raylor isnt doing to bad and is adding goals to the team...On the other hand Simpson isnt the best defender in the world and his crossing is shocking, never beats the first man!

 

Simpson isn't the one that has been at fault for 3-4 goals we have conceded this year so far. Simpson also isn't the one forcing Jonas to be less attacking. Simpson is the one getting by far the least cover from wingers in front of him(sammy did well tracking back today, compared to Obertan does though).

 

Much better defensively than Raylor though and over the course of a full season I think this is the more important attribute for a full back.

 

Get through todays games and the next 2, don't expect anything next week but still think we can get something from Chelski.
I think the team will look at todays performance and take the positives from it, we nearly made it to half time 0-0. Stupid mistake for the pen and the 2nd Richardson chanced it and got the luck of the ball to finish well. Not seen the 3rd pen. So not worried with confidence, teams like Wigan or Blackburn have a confidence problem. A team who have been unbeaten in 14 games shuoldn't be after a couple of games against the top teams in the league and pretty much europe.

Didn't expect much from this games but frustrated/annoyed about the pens we are better than that.

Take the positives and move on, I'm sure Pardew and the lads will

 

Bring on Norwich away, West Brom and Swansea at home, and Bolton away. I think we'll get beat at OT and get a point v Chelsea maybe, but the games that I mention are the ones that will determine if we can finish seventh - nit matches against title contenders.

 

To concede one goal in open play at their ground shows that we defended well in the main. On another day, that could have easily been a draw. But considering we only lost 3-1 to a team who battered Man Utd you can't really have expected anything but a loss.
