When we deveolpe bargain players to be worth silly money they will usually get cherry picked by the bigger clubs, thats why they have been bigger clubs for so long by negating any threat from lower teams by raping them when they have the cheek to get as good or better than them. Unless we can keep on finding these Michus and Bonys at great prices for the returns they give us then we may have to dip our toes in the market for already proven high end players one day ?
Gems come in all price ranges , but expensive gems can make or break a small club .Would prefer to not to break our transfer record.......ever .
Probably not imo , footballers aren't a limited commodity and the talent is out there ,the trick is to develop the scouting system to spot it .It's easy to spot the 20.000.000 player not so the 2,000.000 who will develop into the more expensive asset
I agree bony, I would rather have 4 very good £5m players that could do a great job for us and be an investment than 1 £20m player at the moment, but would love it if one day soon were in a position to get one in with out sweating about it because our board have been savy every year till were doing big deals because we want to and were loaded enough to handle it.
I hope and agree with you lone as we cannot in any shape or form sustain a player at that price yet. A £20m player will command close to and above £100,000/week in today's wage structure and could lead a small team like us on the road to ruination..
