Our defence

As has been mentioned, I put this "improvement" down to the quality of opposition (and, to a lesser extent, Cork's return) rather than an actual improvement. At the end of the day, not every team has Van Persie or Jelavic in it.

I'm still not comfortable with the defence, and even less so with Gazzaniga. But against the likes of Swansea and QPR, you don't generally need a particularly special defence.

Think I'd be tempted to go back to Kelvin against Newcastle though (just not Boruc please; he looked unfit, a bit overweight, and just the whole signing of his stunk of desperate, and still does).

Spot-on St Brendy - Swansea had a so-so day against us and QPR are in a terrible state and suddenly some fans think our back-four is top class... just look at the conceded tally for a reality check. Goalkeeper situation is unclear and a serious concern - IMO we need to get SKD back in between the posts.

SKD is to slow at diving for the ball these days, don't get me wrong he is a great shot stopper. So if any one was going to replace Gazza it would be Boruc.

WE just have to trust Nigel to make the right decision re a keeper. Difficult to drop Gazza after two gamesd unbeaten IMO. He will learn fast ande we have no evidence that Boruc is back to anywhere near his best!

Self-belief is a huge factor. After a sprightly start to the season, we began to lose and fans and team began to doubt. Even Nigel admitted to being depressed for half an hour<yikes> We have now had a couple of results with a fine footballing display last Saturday...they will take on Newcastle believing they can win...surely better than having their confidence rock bottom.
