Will he return?
Will he get a chance if he does, or should we just let him go.

MARCOS Angeleri has been given the all-clear after undergoing surgery to solve his knee ligament problems

The Sunderland defender was granted permission to return to Argentina last month to train with old club Estudiantes and consult the specialist for the national team.

Angeleri went under the knife for an exploratory operation this week, which found no serious problems inside the knee.

The 28-year-old suffered cruciate ligament damage two years ago and aggravated the injury during Sunderland’s pre-season friendly with Benfica last summer.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce believes the right-back has been hampered by the problem ever since, which has restricted his first-team involvement at Sunderland to just three appearances.

Bruce said: “Angeleri has not been fit since the Benfica game in pre-season, which is a shame.

“He went back to Argentina to see the specialist about his knee. His surgeon is involved with the Argentinian national team, so we decided it would be better for him to go and speak to him in his native language.”

Despite being given the medical all-clear, Sunderland are still expected to offload Angeleri this summer.

Estudiantes have been mooted as possible suitors for the Argentine international, although there is not thought to have been contact between the two clubs.

Another barrier to the deal is the departure of Estudiantes coach Eduardo Berizzo, who resigned earlier this week after the Argentine champions suffered a 12-game winless run.

But Sunderland’s chances of cutting their losses on a player who cost them £1.5million last summer will be helped by Angeleri’s continued call-ups to the Argentina national side.

Angeleri was handed a shock recall for Argentina’s friendlies against the U.S. and Costa Rica in March and was also selected in the squad for a friendly in Nigeria this week before pulling out through injury

At notts co match he was worse than jeff whitley, however, to get in the argie squad you must have summit about you.
Cannot imagine anyone will sign him so IF he comes back and IF he gets a run in the team would think he will at least try to put himself in shop window.

Never seen enough of him to form an opinion.

To be fair, lad never was showcased, will reserve judgement, question again is,,,,, who scouts the players, who buys the players, and who manages the players?

Think he was our 1st injury of the season. Re: scouting, buying etc, its worrying with all of our S.American signings. Sack them.

Sack them... Ricky S walked as our chief scout... related to this?
