Early days I know but we must be odds on to have the lowest spend of all Prem clubs in this window. It will fuel the idea that Kat's not spending much before selling the club while we await new owners before any major signing will be agreed. My Saints anxiety meter is twitching now, I know I'm a lightweight and shallow but news of a decent signing would be much appreciated here at Green Towers.
It would seem their signings this season might be more calculated than the random approach of the previous few seasons. Good luck to Eddie.

We don't need a complete overhaul of the squad, maybe 3-4 players IF everyone stays. Can't blame Kat if that's the case though. I hope Kat isn't doing that, and I wouldn't think that she would as we have been self sufficient for a while now. Ake for £20 million is a bit steep for an undersized CB who has had a handful of first team games though!
Les and Ralph have both spoken of the depth and quality of our squad....and Ralph said it was the first time that we had such a squad on long contracts. The latter remark suggesting that we wouldn't have to let them go as we'd had to do in the past. If we stick to that....i.e. have a peaceful summer with regard to sales....I can't see us bringing too many in. Three or four in (as suggested by San Pellegrino) will probably be close to the mark. If Jay leaves (as seems likely), his space may be taken by Gallagher....that will leave us with Austin, Gabby and Long as main strikers with Sam in the back up role (as he seems to have been promised game time). The rumoured French striker would add even more depth. I think Les feels that our team (when fit) aren't far from being a very good squad who underperformed for various reasons last season. I'd be happy with that....no big sales and just a little tweaking when some players leave because it suits both them and us. Sit down, Virgil....I didn't mean you
And I forgot Maya...he deserves a new contract, but I wonder if he wants one. He may feel that it is time to move on after a season with lots of game time, so doesn't want to sign a new one. It may be in his footballing interests to run his contract down. Cue him signing a 4 year extension

Adding an inexperienced CB to a team that shipped 60+ goals isn't being that serious. It's them fixing a gaping whole in their squad for quite the sizeable fee. Makes the £12 million we paid for VVD seem ridiculous.
