Arsenal made 6 changes - basically playing the subs from the other day. Hopefully be motivated to play well. Martinez; Holding, Luiz, Kolasinac; Cedric, Torreira, Ceballos, Saka; Nketiah, Lacazette, Aubameyang. Strong Arsenal attack .
Arsenal have won their last seven meetings with Aston Villa in all competitions by an aggregate score of 23-3.
I've got it on the radio. Gaby Abongalhor (excuse speling) co commentary. I hadn't heard a real Brummie accent in a while.
Am so deflated that I'm not bothering to watch the Villa game. I know we're three points ahead and theoretically in the box seat, but I just can't see us escaping the inevitable. This relegation is going to hurt more than previous ones because it's hard to fathom what has gone wrong - the players we have are probably the best we've had since the 80s & there's no reason for them to be performing so poorly.
Personally, I think the can't score many, let in too many theory might apply. Good players we have, but predominantly in midfield.
Oh no Villa 1-0 up. Mind you if we go down better they stay up than Bournemouth who will probably be in even more of a mess than us.
Feels like I am listening to Watford (us) getting relegated here. It has even clouded over here, lightning strikes and rain has started. Very apt. So sad.
Villa might well stay up thanks to that goal not given when the GLT broke... Might be a few lawyers getting a call. We've not been good enough throughout the season.
When (if) we go down we FULLY deserve it. GRIM. Wonder what next season will bring as there is a lot to be sorted out in a short space of time.
Unfortunately now feel fairly negative about the whole thing. Just can’t see what we need to happen on Sunday happening. Won’t give up until the fat lady etc, but Sunday isn’t going to be fun to watch.
Just had a look at the table, yeah, I know I shouldn't have. Strange as it is but if Muff don't win, both us and Villa can lose and we could still stay up on goal difference. Sunday is going to be a tough day. Does anyone know what happens if Villa and Watford are locked on points and goal difference? EDIT: BBC article answered my doubt - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53492578 How are final positions determined? If teams finish on the same points then goal difference comes into play. Aston Villa's victory over the Gunners took them to -26, a single goal better than Watford and Bournemouth's -27. If they still cannot be separated then goals scored comes into the equation, with Villa netting 40, Bournemouth 37 and Watford 34. If teams still remain tied then a new addition from this season sees the use of a head-to-head record between two clubs, with the team collecting the most points finishing higher up the table. [WHY COULDN´T IT BE TH OTHER WAY ROUND; HEAD TO HEAD THEN IF A DRAW GOALS SCORED] Going further still, should teams still remain deadlocked then there is the highly unlikely scenario of a play-off taking place at a neutral ground. So, we are goosed if goal difference is the same.
