So Gareth Southgate has a three hour interview about the England job....which we're told went well.

Only the FA could make it so complicated....he is the only person being interviewed....he has been stand-in manager for the last four internationals......he has been running the under 21's for awhile now....but their decision will not be announced until the end of November unbelievable.

Personally I don't think he is the right man for the job....his managerial experience at club level is very limited, he hasn't been through that learning experience that is necessary for one of the hardest jobs in football.

When you look around the English game it can be very worrying the lack of candidates available to the FA....let alone someone who can be trusted not to be on the fiddle like the last slimy git.

I see Kevin Nugent has won two out of two since taking over as caretaker manager at Charlton.

    Charlton...2-0...Port Vale.
    Bristol R...1-5...Charlton.

    Brilliant.

Notts County to face another winding up petition on 19 December. Also have a transfer embargo. This is their second trip to the Courts. An attempt by current owner to offload the club earlier this year came to nothing so I don't know what their situation is now. Not sounding great though is it. Bet Sheridan is glad he went there now.

Went to the ground today and got my cup match ticket for December 3rd. Glad to see the club are being realistic with the ticket prices for this one. £15 for No.1 son and a tenner for me. Newport have hit a bit of form just in time for the match so I'm guessing it won't be a walk over and especially with my favourite man in charge of them. We hardly ever seem to get a big club if we get through this round. Mind you it isn't often we get through these days is it. 3rd Round is dizzy heights for us. Still, it's at home and it's a Saturday so where else would I go.

Is that the official birthday or the real one Lyndie? I will expect nothing less than the Wives Choir to be there to sing happy birthday to you. Plym will back me up here but the older you get the sooner the next birthday comes around. Well it seems that way anyway.

Will Mrs Lindy see it as a treat...or is it just a treat for you Lindy.....it won't be much of a treat if Argyle live up to their recent years of Cup failure.

I was toying with starting a single thread on this subject then decided maybe we don't want to dwell on it for months on end at this point. I have just been reading an article on the beeb football site about the current situation regarding child abuse that has reared it's ugly head again mainly at Crewe.

Here we go again with yet another shocking revelation. I suppose when you think about it there shouldn't be that much surprise given that youngsters dream of a career in football and there are always people out there who will take advantage of any situation. I had never heard of that Crewe bloke until this week despite the fact he has served several terms in prison for child abuse already and is currently in there as we speak. Given his numerous convictions you would have thought that somebody somewhere might have thought "hang on a second, if he has done this to that many over that many years who else might have" and they look into it a bit more closely. I have never heard of any investigation by anyone into this subject before. There is an opinion that this will be as big if not bigger than Saville. They have had numerous people come forward with their stories since the thing was aired on 5Live earlier this week. I heard that interview and it was not pleasant listening. The people being accused has grown and several police forces are investigating now.

The one thing that I hope doesn't happen from this is that moronic football supporters do not start chanting anything at Crewe games. We have some who do the cancer thing at Exeter which I think is appaulling. We have it against Luke at Argyle. You can just hear some idiots using it throughout the land and thinking it's a larf or something akin. I get sick and tired of these men continually coming out of the woodwork and giving all of us a bad name. I was talking to somebody recently about taking grandchildren to see the various kids films there have been and how I kind of like the films as well. It was disappointing that they are getting older and are less likely to want to see these films and I'll miss them now. Just go and see them on your own was the advice I was given. We then spoke about how it would look if me at a certain age and being male went into a cinema full of kids on my own and how you just couldn't do it these days. How unfair is it that you have to think that way now because of these bastards who give all of us a bad name.

Every news program has latched on to it.....ok it needs sorting out yes.....but it doesn't need to be turned into a circus routine with in depth info.

It's the same with this fellow who killed four men....luring them back to his place for sex, drugging them and dumping their bodies near to where he lived.....we've had program after program of in depth detail...not necessary personally.

Now I think about it, young footballers are uniquely vulnerable because of the huge potential rewards, financial and otherwise, resulting from becoming a top pro and the power that coaches have in deciding who makes the grade and who doesn't.

Of course there's been abuse in many sectors of society but I'm sure the issue's been clouded by compensation hunters and attention seekers making bogus claims. My guess is that this is (so far) 100% genuine given that a number of those involved made it to the top and probably feel they have more to lose than they have to gain from the publicity. They are wrong to feel that: they are bravely doing society and football a favour in rooting this scum out.

Just got back from a day down Tonbridge shopping with Mrs Plym only 20mins away.....used South East Trains...<doh>........Train 13 minutes late from Charing Cross.....we had minus 3 centigrade last night....trains can't cope with frost or leaves....toilet on platform closed as well (frozen).

Coming home train already on platform...great.....20 minutes later still on platform.....change of crew.....one member hadn't turned up...apologies onboard by crew member who had turn up......another train now due on next platform arrives.....a couple of hundred passengers pore off of our train to get on that one....of course to many people so train crowded.....three quarters of them hyper active school kids who spend their time walking up and down the train knocking into people because of swaying coaches (older rolling stock)....and we thought we where lucky because we don't have Southern Rail to contend with around here.

You sound like Leonard Rossetter in that old comedy programme he was in Plym. "Train 20 minutes late..leaves on the track" "Train 30 minutes late, frozen points". Can't remember what it was called now.

It was bleddy cold down here last night. I had to light a second candle so we could have one each.

I'm all heart really Joe. It's why she stays with me. I even let her have the blanket sometimes.:emoticon-0177-toivo
