Donald Trump downplays suggestion that he wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He has managed to unite the east into a powerful opposition that makes the floundering west look quite enaemic and toothless.....Russia grinds on in Ukraine and Trump is just ignored. The man is a disaster zone of his own making.
Hasn't exactly achieved peace in too many places yet has he? Almost alone in backing Netanyahu's genocide in Gaza, presumably in the hope of building a giant golf resort there, completely lost the diplomatic battle against Putin while the war drags on and has apparently encouraged growing super-power India, presently the world's largest democracy, into the orbit of China. And at home, he has the National Guard on the streets of several major cities against the wishes of the local Democrat state governments whist a number of Republican states are engaging in industrial scale gerrymandering. His most bizarre idea this week is to ban the sale of guns to trans-sexual people. A more relevant question would be why any citizen has need of an assault rifle. Huntin' shootin' and fishin' fair enough but assault rifle?
With the state of the world being as it is.......the UK is more concerned about Angel Rayner and her £40,000 "fiddle".....I can't say I'll miss her.....she was ruthless with other's and she has fallen by the same sword.
Hmmm well although I don't share her politics but I do like a sassy female and she's certainly that. On top of that, I think the placing of the family home in a trust came about following a marriage break-up and was done to protect the interest of her child, who I believe was the beneficiary of trust and the property within it. That's not the worst motive in the world. That motivation, if that is the situation, compares to rather more favourably than that of Richard Tice, who'd one day hope to be Chancellor of the Exchequer. I don't actually think Rayner was on a fiddle which implies deliberate. She is guilty of taking advice from the wrong people and if I'm honest I'm not sure why she should be paying tax on buying a home which would be her only owned one. As I understand this she sold her interest in the Manchester property to the trust which her son owns. So basically sold her principal home to buy another seperate principal home and it isn't a second home. Lke it or not you can't count the grace and favour one. The Trust itself is her disabled sons not her's unlike the Tory boy. I think a lot of the vitriol is because she is a northern woman who has pulled herself up from a poor start and done good. I mean how dare she make any real money for godsake she should just know her place and people who should be congratulating her i.e. similar profile persons are the most jeolous of the lot.
Donald Trump has found a new way of winding up world tension. The "Department of Defense" will be renamed the "Department of War".....Trump says that this sends a "message of victory" ? This used to be its name in the 1940's....when it was fighting WW2.....a far more aggresive tone than being just a defense department. Meanwhile Putin on his side of the fence has also wound up tension....by declaring that if western military became involved in any form of peace agreement in Ukraine.....they will become legitimate targets for Russia to attack. PS....It is estimated that it will cost at least a Billion Dollars to rebrand every thing from "Defense...to...War". That sounds to me that the "clock" is nearing one minute to mid-night.....taking us back to those dark "cold war iron curtain times". Trump doesn't like anyone getting "one over him"........and the long red carpet that Trump laid down for his buddy Putin looks more like legitimising Putin's position in world leadership circles. Trump is just a pussy cat compred with the years of Putin's development during the years he was in the KGB...learning how to destroy his enemies by various means of removing them from opposition.....(falling out of windows....dying in prisons....or being assassinated wherever they lived).....how long will it take Trump to realize that he has united his enemies into a formidable force.....(Russia...China...N Korea and even India plus others). Trump's so called "friends" are not that united behind him....he changes tack so often that they become the opposition for a time....they just try to cosy up to him so that they don't upset him too much.......dark worrying days are upon us. PS.....It has been estimated that it will cost at least a Billion Dollars to re-brand everything from Defense to War.....all the way down to the buttons on uniforms.
As President Theodore Roosevelt famously said “speak quietly but carry a big stick”. The US has the big stick but speaking quietly or even intelligibly is not Trump’s strong suit. He’s just a big bag of bluster. He’s a very dangerous man. This week, he’s allowed Putin to say troops from NATO countries acting in a peace keeping capacity in Ukraine could be targeted by Russian strikes. That’s unacceptable and also exactly the non-response Putin would have hoped for. It should not be allowed to pass if he expects to have any influence anywhere.
A big worry in the USA at present is the toothless Democrats......we look at Russia...China...N Korea...etc ...countries that have no opposition....one party States.....and we tut..tut ...and say how wrong that is. But hold on what is happening in the States....the Republican President is targetting Democrat States and sending in the troops to "clean up" there so called terrible crime rates....Trump is bypassing the legitimate and elected governments of these "opposition" run states and imposing his will upon them.....Russia...China..N Korea etc will be smirking and smiling that the leader of the west....has cottoned on that to get it done you bypass the opposition. In the UK we aren't worried about a one party state....we have literally no one party state because they're all toothless and rubbish.....and that is why like it or not Reform with literally no power base have worried voters to give them a go.....we have no leaders nationwide that attract voters other than Farage.....and that is a worry like him or not.
There was a time yesterday afternoon when my local team Bromley were top of Div Two.....at the time they were 2-0 up....but Gillingham fought back to get a 2-2 draw.....and they ended up top of Div Two.
My afternoon is ruined. After an interesting if unspectacular Italian GP, the roast is in the oven and I’ve sat down to watch the England v South Africa 100. England made no less than 415 but South Africa are. 28-6 with Archer (and Carse) ripping through their batting as though it’s made of tissue paper. This could be finished by 4pm…..

I’m somewhat confused by the Trump administration’s reaction to the Israeli attack on Hamas in Qatar. The Israelis use American aircraft (F15’s. F16s and F35s) and are bound to have used the most advanced one the have, the F35, in this raid. We’ve seen in Ukraine that the Americans have the ability to lock certain weapons systems if they don’t want them used, even if only because they rely on US satellite data to work. I remember watching a documentary about the British F35s that operate principally from the two carriers. A pilot was unable to enter his ID into the plane and so couldn’t start it. This needed to be rectified in America, so it’s clear if the Americans retain some control over the aircraft’s use. How then did the Israelis mount a raid the Americans didn’t know about in advance, even if only by a few hours?
US military in Qatar control the skies above....I doubt that Israel could have succeeded in their quest without the US standing aside and allowing it to happen.
