Chegwidden.....Penalurick.....Bolitho They're all Cornish-ish names esp. Bolitho. You might like to try searching for "Surname Heat Map". There are quite a few, some better than others. Here's one: https://scaledinnovation.com/gg/biMapper.html This is Bolitho: Chegwidden No clear results for Penhallurick but I did find this: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/categories/ukicen/?name=_Penhallurick
This is my father's side: The only bit outside of Cornwall I can possibly explain is that my great-uncle was Dean of Gloucester Cathedral. This is my mother's side: I can't explain I can't explain much of that: I know their were connections in North Cornwall - around the Bude area. No idea about the Midlands and Ireland..... but it's a more common name.
My fathers surname (and mine) are strong in Wales.....and for some reason the Scottish Borders.....plus Southern England from the midlands downward and to the east.
Given the size of top level transfer fees these days, I bet Man U fans must be scratching their heads over how their club came to sell a Ballon D’Or nominees for “only” £27.5m. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/crr27dev9zko
Now this is a laugh isn’t it? Well, not really https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdd32lnq445o Tell the truth. I’ll match his £1,000 if he publicly shoves his up his…….
One result yesterday that I feel I must draw to your attention. Sheffield United 1 - 4 Bristol City. Such a dreadful shame for Sheffield United to be humiliated in their first home game of the season after failing to be promoted to the Premier League where they so obviously think they have a right to be. The tragedy was only deepened by the absence of that loveable scallywag Chris Wilder, who so deserves to be involved in this sort of thing. I’m sure well we’ll all be watching with bated breath to see if this develops into a trend. Fingers crossed eh?
It’s I the news this evening that the Government plans to crack down on older drivers. I’m sure that’ll win them some votes given that a proportion of the population think that’s the cause of huge number of accidents. Clearly, some accidents are caused that way. Nevertheless, the majority of casualties are caused or suffered by: Young men driving home late at night from nights out or showing off to young women. When they go, they tend to go in groups of 3 or 4. As a sub-set of the above, e-bike riders. There’s a Deliveroo rider that comes up our 30 mph residential street at something around 50 into a blind LH turn on a regular basis. Motor cyclists. Who hasn’t ben passed by one doing something above 100mph? Speed cameras of course are ineffectual against that as motorbikes don’t have front number plates. Militant cyclists who think their green credentials excuse them from any rules whatsoever. Once again, this Government is doing what it hopes is popular, not what’s right and/or effective.
Yes I noticed that on the news as well.....I come in that category.....as the years go by I do less miles each year and wonder if I'm wasting my money having an annual service.....and of course in the last month or so I haven't driven my car at all because of Citroëns C3 ban.
I have an eye test every year so that’s not an issue for me. But a lot of this is just posturing. Cutting the blood alcohol level will achieve little apart from catching a few poor sods driving to work of a morning who’s marginally over a ridiculous limit. What’s needed is to have the police out at 1/30 of a Sunday morning to catch those rolling out of nightclubs who are completely legless.
Sir Keir Starmer was blasted last night after Channel migrant arrivals under Labour surged past 50,000 in record time. A total of 400 were found crossing in small boats yesterday....meaning the 50,000 mark was breached 401 days after the PM entered No10... Daily Express...Tues...12/08/2025.
The day of the cheeky lorry driver is over as these brave cops transfer from murder, street violence, terrorism and child abuse to something really serious. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz0y8r141pxo
Castration would solve this problem.....are we saying 100% of women don't enjoy being watched at times as they jog by ? If so they could wear a large potato sack to hide their attributes......or as I've said castration.......clinics by the road side could solve the problem......and then they could get back to solving real crime.....assuming the police can remember what real crime looks like.
I'm not condoning lechery - women should obviously be allowed to go about their business without being made to feel uncomfortable, let alone fearful. Nevertheless, being made to "feel a bit icky" may be bad manners (or over sensitivity) but it isn't grounds for a criminal prosecution, let alone castration. So the police should get on with what they're paid to do.
Went to pick Citroën up on the 14th....turned ignition on...and there was two warning lights on display.....so I queried it.....and of course they where both relating to the airbags.....they spent an hour in the workshop trying to rectify the situation.....but didn't....so I made the tedious journey back home on two trains plus a bus. Phone me today and said it had been rectified.....some area they hadn't cleaned out.....and luckily they had a driver over in my direction that could pick me up on the way back to Crayford....so that was helpful......so the car is now legal plus 12 month MOT......that was roughly 6 weeks motorless.
Your not entirely alone. I think I reported that we had new rear brake pads fitted at a well known tyre/exhaust/brake chain a while ago and then shortly after took it to the local dealer for an MOT. The former had left the dust covers off so it had to go back to them to the covers fitted properly. Their report also shows that one of the front tyres is 6 months older than the other. It's not: they fitted them themselves as a pair about a year ago. Last week, we had the rear tyres replaced. First off, their condition report showed that the spare wheel was missing. It is missing: in fact the car never had one: it has one of those temporary repair kits. It also shows that unlike the other three, the front nearside tyre does not have the pressure sensor valve that drives the dashboard tyre info panel. That's odd because pressures for all 4 wheels are shown on the panel: in fact I checked them when we got the car back. On questioning them, it was a mistake on their part. Doesn't inspire confidence does it....?
