Don't be bleddy foolish notdistant. Get any improvement in our infrastructure whatever next. You have lived long enough to know for certain that spending money of things like railways and motorways stops at Bristol mostly. If they could they would saw this part of the Country off the rest at Bristol and let it float away.
That's Life as Ester Ratzen used to say. The A303- M5 link has been cancelled https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn01y6ezr11o and the A38 south of Plymouth is now a de facto 30mph route all the way to Liskeard. God knows what that'll be like in the summer because all the 3-lane sections are now unavailable to overtake caravans and lorries because all of them are capable of 45mph+. Meanwhile, we've still got ****e diesel trains on the Penzance to Paddington route whilst Paddington to Wales has been converted to cleaner, faster electric trains. Mind you, I remember happy Saturdays going up to Argyle with my school mates behind Warships please log in to view this image D382 HMS Onslaught And Westerns please log in to view this image D1057 Western Chieftain
The latest electonic bore is the QR CODE....it is on the telly screen...(if you want more info)....it is in papers and magazines....so if you want to know more about the article or the thing they're trying to sell you....you have to zap on it to find out more.....simple answer....if you want to sell me something then tell me up front.....you will not make me become a slave of my mobile to know more about something. Mobiles are become a persons complete life.....turning them into a numpkin and without it they are completely lost and cannot function...they cannot ride on a bus....they cannot pay for anything....they cannot get between A and B without it guiding them....they cannot use a supermarket without it....they cannot park their car without it....they cannot slouch in Costa's without it....they become robots twirling in ever decreasing circles without it.....they just as well drop to the ground and wait to die without it...lose their life supporting wrist device as well (notice I didn't call kit a watch) and their doomsday has arrived...hopefully they are able to breath without either....mobile thieving is now more for the keys to someones life than the value of the phone. I will not add any of these life supporting so called aides to my mobile....it's a phone and news source...(sport and news updates is all I need).....and certainly not my Bank details to it.
I think they are very convenient. I was for example able to determine only this weekend that I had not in fact won £200,000,000 on the EuroMillions by just scanning the QR code on the ticket rather than checking umpteen numbers by hand.
That must of been a sad moment for you.....Argyle would have been happy with 10% of that.....you could have bought us all season tickets for Div One next season.
i rum our business on it Plym and life woith it, saves sat at a pc in an office as i can be anywhere working and invoicing now, as i did last week in the USA .. its easier. no pile of voicemails to come back to or emails.. all dealt with. come back and relax I dont sit on it while im out and about or in a coffee show or on planes or trains.. i understand what you mean as i see these people every whenre
I was going to say luckily, Argyle aren’t living hand to mouth like this. But it’s not luck is it? It’s proper professional financial management. It’s a shame not everyone does it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c24q31yl0lvo
I saw this on CNN. Sums up Trump’s Tariffs nicely. “We have a 20th century president in a 21st century economy who wants to take us back to the 19th century,” wrote Douglas Irwin, a Dartmouth economics professor, on X.” Of course, Trump has learned lessons about unfettered immigration from the early part of the19th century. That was hoards of European immigrants sweeping westward and destroying the way if life of the indigenous people. Can’t have that can we?
Not a good day to have a pension fund. Or a business. Or a job you'd like to keep. Major stock markets down 5% or more, losses running into trillions China talks of retaliating with tariffs of 34% on US goods The Fed expects higher inflation and lower growth in America.... and if America sneezes.... JP Morgan says there's a 60% probability of recession
Just trolling through this thread, I keep seeing those pictures of Western Region diesel locos I posted. They are close to unique: I know of one other. Without looking it up, who knows why?
Because the rest were obsolete before cameras were invented? You just want an excuse to post another picture don't you.
No. Most if not all mainline locomotives these days are powered by a big diesel engine driving a generator in turn powering electric motors driving the wheels. The Westerns and Warships had diesels driving hydraulic pumps driving hydraulic motors at the axle.
Trump is setting himself up for an assassination attempt......the man is heading for world chaos. What tariff has he got Russia and Ukraine on or don't they count Someone could make a fortune on the stock exchange and someone could lose all......dangerous and scary times. Trump had a day off today playing golf.....while Rome burns..comes to mind..
I see Manchester City are complaining that the FA unfairly ruled their related party sponsorships illegal because they didn’t also rule that loans to clubs by shareholders were similarly illegal. Now correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that loans: Usually involved the payment of interest (although perhaps not in the mad mad world of football) and Had a mechanism by which they were eventually paid back - even if payment was in the form of shares in the club. Sponsorship on the other hand is a non-refundable payment for which the consideration is merely having your logo on a shirt or an advertising board at the ground. After the specified period, the club can sell the same privilege again. City are also saying that the FA lacked the expertise to make the distinction. Personally, I think a reasonably intelligent 5 year old could tell the difference.
