Well you need to remember it is the written word and has no expression or context. I just follow the previous trend for interpretation. I find it's what gives old people a bad name really with a lot of folk. What was acceptable to express back in the 50s and 60s is no longer acceptable and those it is about object now because they are allowed to. The days of putting a sign in the window if you were a landlord for example that said No Blacks, Irish or Dogs is frowned upon. Not using some terminology now is not being "right on" or "woke" it is politeness and respect. We are a transient globe now so closing your borders and pulling up the drawbridge is a lot more difficult and you can't keep Johnny Foreigner out for some nationalistic reason. You might also consider that you can't complain about things becoming more left wing if you are taking a far right attitude yourself.

Had a surprise this morning.....I found a dead Badger on the back lawn.....it looked as if it had been dead a few days.....and a fox maybe found it and dragged it into my garden.

Very sad to see....and of course the flies had started to enjoy themselves....I bagged it up into quite a few plastic bags and also found a box to put it in and gaffer taped it closed.

Quite surprised that when I phoned Bromley Environmental Health and pressed a few relevant buttons...I actually got through to a human being called Joe.

I had found out online that you needed to bag it up into a few bags and leave it at the top of the drive....and they will collect between the hours of 7am to 4.30pm...(but not over Easter weekend of course)......so I hope they come tomorrow or Thursday....I'll have to put it out in the morning....because over night the whole cul-de-sac will have it spread around by the resident foxes otherwise.

PS......I have a vision of BC telling us that he's found a dead Bear in his garden....would probably need a fork lift truck and a very large wooden packing case to move it.

The things you find in your garden..,

A year or so ago, my other half decided to help clear the alley way below our back fence to allow access for maintenance work on a neighbour’s back wall.

Among a lot of weeds and hedge trimmings she found a revolver - considerably rusted but I’d say it was an officer’s side arm type of weapon. A serious gun.

We called the police and a firearms officer was dispatched to collect it. He arrived in body armour and carrying his own pistol so was clearly the real thing.

He picked it up and said he thought it was too rusted to have fired for some time and that the visible chambers were empty. That much we’d worked out for ourselves. He then proceeded to point it at his own face and look down the barrel to see if there was a bullet in the active chamber. Now I’d have thought on Day 1 of Basic Firearms for Beginners, you’d be told not to look down the barrel of a weapon if you weren’t sure its origin or condition or it indeed if it was still partly loaded, but what do I know?

Having made this expert examination, he then put it in a sand-filled box and drove off… we heard no more.

Yes that does sound a rather basic mistake....he could have been fired over that....(or even shot).

When we moved into this property 14 years ago....on a sunny January day.....we had a few of the family pop round to help us get sorted out......we noticed a fox sunning himself on one of the flower borders down the bottom....and just took note and carried on getting organized.

Later in the day just as it was getting dark and we where having a rest....we noticed the fox was still there.....so I started walking towards it.....and it didn't move....it was actually dead....it didn't look old or manky....looked in excellent condition with a good tail/brush......rather strange actually.

I worked for a Housing Department, there is no shock in anything that is found in a garden I can assure you.

I daresay most of us watched last night’s England game. Can anyone explain the logic of the handball decision against Toney in the 1st minute?

The ball comes to him very quickly and rather awkwardly at the near post but he manages to stretch out a foot and turn it goal wards.

Unfortunately, on its way across his body, it strikes his own hand which deflects his own goal attempt off target.

Since it’s obviously accidental and it was disadvantageous not advantageous, couldn’t we have just played on?

What a muddle referees are in.

Popped into Bromley High Street this morning....which is now the nearest branch of my Building Society/Bank.....and many parking attempts away.

Now it is quite a big branch with ample floor space etc....I just managed to squeeze in the door out of the rain and wind.....there was as far as I could see four staff on duty....and dozens of irate customers needing attention.....the staff looked very stressed out and completely overwhelmed with the amount of people present.....in fact I recognized a few people from our old defunct Orpington branch.

I eventually managed to talk to a lady....who was well past her charming "the customer comes first" mode and was literally snarling at customers....I asked her about my bank sorting code....did it still exist...seeing that that branch no longer existed....and she told me that nothing had change....I politely told her that was not true....seeing that I had travelled extra miles to get here seeing that my old branch no longer existed....but she was well past the being pleasant to the customer at 11.30 am (only been open 2.5 hrs ...oh dear will she make 5pm when this branch closes)....but she did tell me that every other Friday there will be a bank person available at the library in Orpington to talk to....now that job sounds like the short straw to draw to meet the angry customers.

I did enjoy watching ITV's....Mr Bates v The Post Office.....and now we are told officially that Fujitsu where able to interfere with PO accounts without the individual branches knowing.

All those ruined lives...many going to prison.....and now it is clear that the Post Office knew for 4 years that it was happening and continually argued that they didn't know is amazing.

Those in the Post Office higher echelons' need to go on trial....and if guilty end up in prison for a long time.

And FULL compensation to every person who have been tainted by this terrible scandel.

The Scottish district council has passed a law that could bring prosecution of anyone who stirs up hatred on the basis of age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or being intersex.

There goes stand up comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe then.

I clearly remember some weather expert on the telly in 1976 (the big drought)...telling us that we would never have enough water in the world again.

I'm now waiting for some weather expert in 2024 to tell us that we will never have any dry weather again.

April 1st (April fools day believe it or not) is the latest date I can remember in recent years that I have not been able to cut the grass.

My grass isn't just getting long...its been rained on for so long that I have water showing in various places.....the water table is so high that it only takes half an hour of rain for ponds appearing on it.

BUT this morning the forecast suggested I might have a chance to get a first cut done on a higher level setting.

So having after awhile managing to fire up my mower....I proceeded to cut the easier front lawn....which left me knackered....so a little rest and a drink and then I'd give it a closer cut before moving into the back garden and the far larger lawns.

So I'm sitting with my cold drink wondering Argyles fate later on today.....I then notice it seems to be getting darker....and low and behold it starts raining a little to start with....but then it takes on a steady downpour.

I look online to see that the weather forecast is rain until 5pm.....I'm sure it didn't say that earlier....maybe they checked their bunion or bit of seaweed since the last high tech announcement from their multi million pound equipment.

I've nipped outside and salvaged a very wet and miserable looking mower.
