I don't recall that happening at my wedding......what good is a blind drunk bridegroom to a bride on her wedding night.....is that where the best man stands in....or is that taking it too far.....it's not as if his wife was having a good evening either.

Well don’t forget that these days, most wedding nights have been well rehearsed before the big day.

Anyway, picking a fight with a bridesmaid is a far safer option if you wish to remain in working order than say taking on the equally drunk Uncle Whatshisname, who puts in an appearance at all weddings as a condition of the Weddings Licensing Act of 1987. Uncle Whathisname has been in hundreds of fights.

I do love the "these days" bit. I can assure you that your grannie rehearsed her's just as much as those of today. The only difference is that they are more honest about it now as they don't care what others opinion is. It was ever thus........

Yet a future monarch is supposed to wed a virgin.....and certainly not a divorced woman ?

My beef with him is that he stood in front of the whole country and made promises at his wedding. There is a whole difference between having sex before marriage than there is in making promises or vows you have no intention of keeping. He then stands in front of the whole nation at a coronation and guess what, he makes promises to all of us. Did you believe a word of his promises to you and me? I didn't as the man has no moral fibre in him whatsoever. He is supposed to be a hgher being than you and me. It isn't even just breaking a promise that pits me against the bloke. It's that he was virtually breaking his vows as he was speaking them. If he tried in a marriage and failed at it then fair enough get divorced and marry who you like but he didn't even try. He was bonking his current wife throughout his then marriage from day one.

Invitations for Covid vaccinations were very efficient during the pandemic but it’s all dropped back to the usual NHS muddle now. Still those volunteers running the sessions though. They deserve a campaign medal.

Shingles vaccination? What’s that? My maternal grandmother died from (or at least after) a bout of shingles when I was 4 or something. I do remember that particularly as I used to stay with them for a week or two in the summer. I had chicken pox and all the other classic diseases (and vaccinations) when I was a kid, including German Measles twice! I’ve never heard of a shingles vaccination though.

Mrs Plym and I have both had our Covid and Flu invitations.....but we have a problem that Mrs Plym is on steroids at the moment regarding her kidney problems and cannot have either jab at present........which makes it more important that I do have both.....to protect her.....just rather difficult for me to fit both in at the moment being house bound looking after Mrs Plym.

Words of wisdom ....amazing conclusion from Bank Official.

"Higher interest rates could ultimately hit younger workers and those on lower incomes the hardest....a member of the Bank's rate-setting committee has warned.

Dr Swati Dhingra is one of the Bank of England's nine strong Monetary Policy Committee".

    BBC News.....12/10/2023.

How wonderful to have high educational wisdom so that you can work-out such things as the....poor get poorer.....what would we do without these academics to tell us these things.

Yes what’s more, at a time of runaway inflation, militant unions, wage increase’s unsupported by productivity and significant danger of reverting to a pre-Thatcher economy, she’s voted against the last few rate increases.

Whilst we cannot run the economy entirely for the rich, neither can we run it entirely for the poorest. The young have less to lose than those ahead of them with families and have far greater flexibility to build a career. As Norman Tebbit’s grandson would say “get on your electric scooter and look for work”. And drop the anxiety schtick.

Cracking game with the funny shaped ball tonight Ireland v All Blacks. Some of the tackles in that would send a few of our whimpy footballers to the mad house. I'm not adverse to the funny ball game but also not the biggest fan. However there are some games you can hardly take your eyes off and this one almost qualified in that category.

I think I'm being converted to that other game now. Because I had nothing else to do after mowing the grass than watch the tele and nothing much else was on I watched no less than 2 games of funny ball stuff today. Wow what a pair of crackers they were. Having watched S.Africa and France tonight I have to say I don't hold out much hope for England in the next round. I know it aint over till the fat gender fluid person has rendered a song but I think England will have to go up to a set of gears I don't think they have. At least we will be the last home Country out again.

I watched the first England game and that was dreadful but they’ve improved from months of dire form as they’ve gone along.

The Fijians and Tongans have always been much more competitive (and entertaining) than their tiny populations would suggest. I think all the “little” teams (those outside the European Five Nations group and the Southern Hemisphere 3) have improved a lot. I suppose it’s because big club teams now recruit world wide. Indeed quite.a few British internationals play for French clubs.

South Africa up next. Hmmmm. That could be tricky.

I see that the IOC have announced additional sports to be added to the nest Olympic games: cricket, squash, lacrosse, baseball/softball and flag football. Flag football is apparently American grid-iron football without any physical contact. Isn't that like having pole vault without the pole?

Apart from America who else plays American Football which isn't any kind of football at all. I have lost all interest in the Olympics. I used to watch avidly till the wee small hours when it was far flung but now can't be bothered to tune in to any of it. It isn't amateur any more and it most certainly isn't drug free that's for sure and I include all nations in that one. The messing about with this sport or that sport just to look after the interests of a few is another nail in the coffin for me.

I can’t say I like individual sports, which rules out most of the Olympics, and certainly all of track & field.

I particularly avoid anything with the word “synchronised” in the title or anything that involves music.

I have never been against any sports particularly whether individual or team but I do think some games are not really in the spirit of the Olympics. I don't think football should be there and I don't think cricket should be there. Nothing aginst hockey or volleyball or even basketball although am mixed on that one. Don't think synchronised swimming should be involved or beach volleyball. Running, jumping and throwing events all good. Horses and ok at a push bikes also good. Shooting with gun or bow also good. Swimming and sailing and canoes also good. Anything else a nah from me pretty much.
