That's the potted history of every nation that has been top of the pile over the centuries....that is how the world has evolved. Hindsight is a wonderful gift.....if only we knew how any situation would end up we would probably do it all another way. Leaving Saddam Hussain in charge was agreed not to be the way forward by everyone. Not putting a leadership in place was a mistake.....the middle east and democracy never seems to work....what was the best way forward ? Refugees coming to Europe have the right to settle in the first country where they are deemed to be safe.....the question is who is a refugee and who is an economic migrant moving from an area that is not a war zone.....throwing away your paperwork and saying that you come from a war area does muddy the water some what. The French should not of allowed the flow of refugees/migrants through their borders.... these refugees/migrants had already reached a safe country....the situation in Calais cannot be blamed on the UK....we have spent millions helping the French with these camps....their policing of the situation leaves a lot to be desired.... putting the onus on lorry drivers to make sure that they do not have stowaways on board is shirking their responsibility. Sensible.....what makes you think that I vote labour......I've clearly said many times that my voting has always been to vote for whoever has the best chance to defeat the Tory candidate and that has always been a Liberal in the area that I have lived....except last year when I couldn't stomach voting for the Liberals who put Cameron into No 10.....so I voted UKIP........like 4 million others did.
Sorry Plym but removing Saddam was NOT agreed by everyone. You can claim it was done in your name but don't ever include me in that. I disagreed with it then and went to meetings and even marched to show I didn't and I disagree with it now. If it was done in your name then you are as much to blame as the Politicians are. Have you got a spare bedroom for a displaced person who was caught up in something they didn't want either? You are typical of a lot who tick off the starting of a problem as justified and then opt out of dealing with the consequences. Hindsight doesn't start to address this. If you couldn't see what this was going to do in that region at the time of it happening then you are as blind as Blair and his Cabinet. Never mind lets blame the bleddy French for being crap this time. It's very easy to be judgemental of these people from the comfort of your middle class home where the likelihood of being bombed out of it is slight. The Eastern Europeans are not fleeing war zones and are not throwing paperwork away. They are members of the EU who are moving to better themselves finanacially. I repeat that this Country created those other immigrants who are now deemed to be illegal in the main and now don't want to be part of sorting out their plight. Lets leave it to others cause that's morally ok isn't it. None of the above says I think Saddam was a nice man either before that gets thrown at me. He wasn't but it was not our place to get rid on behalf of another nation. I don't see us invading North Korea any day soon. Nice to see you look at policies when voting.
Now There is a crazy fool in Kim foo pung or what ever he calls himself with that comb over.. Agree if Saddam was still there and Gaddafi we wont have this problem as bad.. But they were not nice people but they controlled their people. I cant remember them causing us any harm here or am i wrong.. Blair should have been hung not Saddam
Fact is Joe there are quite a few "leaders" who aren't very nice people. It's not our job to just get rid on behalf of their people though. You are right in that Blair should be hung for what he did. If ever there was a man who liked a bit of cash then there he is. Putin isn't exactly a nice man but none of them are about to invade Russia are they. The West never ever pick on any Country that has an equal or greater capability. Trouble is they never learn. The days of armies fighting armies is long gone. They have learned to hit and run and keep doing it for as long as they want to. You cannot win a war if you don't know who the enemy is or where they are. The Russians got their arses kicked in Afghanistan and had to bail out because the conventional war wasn't on the Taliban agenda. America and Britain never took note of that either. That statement plym applies to all parties so why would it be prudent to vote at all if that's what you judge stuff on? I note you don't comment on the rest. My opinion to anyone who thinks invading another Country is justified is that they should get themselves a gun, get on a boat or a plane and go do the job themselves. I wouldn't expect too many to be that up for it though. It's easier to send someone else isn't it.
Yep Blair was a big crook.. Always on the take, Look at the bung he gave Chilcott for that enquiry. What a farce. He runined this country along with that other jerk with one eye.. nelson.. nope gordon brown.. Clueless.. He is the war criminal not saddam..
Flaming June......Don't they mean September....phew...........hot and steaming. 90F yesterday here.....greenhouse with all doors and windows open 108F......I haven't cut the grass for five weeks....nothing to cut.....irksome because I pay the council a yearly fee to remove my garden waste each fortnight in a wheelie bin....missed two collection because there aint nowt innit. Yesterday was the hottest day since 1911 (I expect sensible remembers it well) recorded at Gravesend Kent (93.9F) just 15 miles from here. Although Salford Quays in Manchester had quite a thunderstorm and the Man C Euro League match was washed away by a flash flood.....lucky people not having to water plants to stop them shrivelling up...especially hanging basket of which we have five.
Not quite like that here Plymborn. I have a cold or similar and was up at 1 am for a Strepsil. We can see from Staddon golf club around to Mount Edgecombe and I've never seen such an electrical storm. Not an isolated flash but the whole cloud formation lit up almost continuously.
Funily enough I cut my grass today and had to empty the box twice. Not a huge garden so was a bit surprised. It has been warm and damp this way and that don't arf make the bleddy grass grow. And the weeds. I didn't hear or see any lightning. Mind you if it's past 2am and before 9 30am then it's not likely I will.
It was weird. Whole sky alight but no sound. I assumed it was some sort of sheet lightning but seems now it was severe storm a long way away. Biggest lightning experience since Dublin to Stansted a couple of years ago. Seat belts to all the way and sick bags everywhere but I loved it! PS Must have been the dreaded Ryanair I suppose. There's a downside to everything!
I never saw or heard a thing.. but it was the other side of town.. Yep a storm on a plane is good to see.. i was never sick tho,, never have those problems as have never thrown up in my life, but i supose there is still time..
Watching the news this evening I saw that half of Cornwall was under water with flash floods being reported. I'd have a wild guess and say that's where the storm was. The worst storm I ever saw electric wise was in Bahrain one night. It went on for hours and hours with a flash in the sky around every minute. Not one drop of rain fell on Bahrain though and the sky out across the sea was spectacular to say the least. You are one of loads of people who seem to have a cold notdistant. It's probably flu though you being male. Your other half isn't very sympathetic if she made you get out of bed in your condidtion to get a strepsil. No compasion to real illness these women.
ha ha, I am now in Richmond (N yorkshire) having a few days recovery following the wedding. Yesterday was glorious -26 degrees and wall to wall sunshine, had a barbie and a few cold ones before the mother of all storms hit-must have been the tail end of the stuff in Manchester but it was spectacular! Today however was typical north yorks weather, cool. dank and dominated by sea fog-even had the log burner on tonight. Hoping for better tomorrow.
Worse, I woke her up by reading a book for half an hour in the kitchen, at the far end of the house, 1 storey below. I must be a noisy reader. The storm I saw was strongest slightly to the east, offshore, maybe Wembury way (geddit?) but spreading right round to Rame Head. Didn't seem to reach Plymouth though. And you're right, I never mention the F word. Not worth the aggravation. So a cold it is.
What about the M.F. words.....that men now seem to suffer......as bad as birth pains so some try to tell us.......
There was a piece on the news yesterday about bias against women with kids. Some female "entrepreneur" complained that when she was in employment, apparently at "director" level, she found 9am meetings had often started without her if she couldn't make that early (!) start time because of the kiddies. Likewise, things were often scheduled as late as 4pm, which was clear evidence of misogyny. She suggested forward looking employers should regard key time as being from 10am to 2pm. How employees who fancied a lunch break were to be treated didn't get mentioned. If it was April 1st you'd let it pass as the (female) interviewer did but male domination while that sort of s**t is taken seriously? I don't think so.
