Surely the Banking disaster was a worldwide phenomenon.....even Browns Labour party can't take that much credit.

It was called by many a..... Global Financial Crises......so maybe blaming incompetent Brown is crediting him with just too much.....banking greed might of had a hand in it.....financial greed....risking everthing for bigger profits.

It's not the bloody banking crash that was the big problem, it was the reckless level of Government borrowing that Brown, Balls and the Labour ran up before it happened to keep themselves in power.

I'm abandoning this discussion, logic and rationality isn't present in it, just deeply disturbing Little England attitudes.

1.5m out of 60+ million people have trashed this country's future, economically and structurally, with Scotland highly likely to leave the UK and all without understanding any of the issues due to Johnson, Farage and Gove's lies.

I think abandonment might not be a bad idea because we will go around and around with this subject. I have my views and they are unlikely to change as I guess others won't either so it does become pointless after a while. There must the other "Other Stuff" we want to share. You started the thread plym so any ideas?

I must admit there is no middle ground regarding the referendum result.....but seeing that the nation has made a decision what next ?

I have nearly always as an adult lived in strong Tory areas.....Ravensbourne (Bromley)....Macmillan country....'we've never had it so good'....I don't think so for many people that I new as a young adult...unless you where well in at the local Conservative Club......this is the time that molded my political beliefs....basically to vote for whoever had the best chance of beating the sitting Tory member.....which would always be a Liberal candidate who would lose by a mile.

When we first got married we moved a little further away to affordable housing....about 12 miles to Old Bexley which was part of the Dartford constituency....which was split roughly fifty fifty between Tory and Labour.....so I voted labour for the only time.

After 6 years we arrived in Orpington in 1970 which was Tory....it had had a rebellion for a short while and went Liberal but not for long....ever since it has been a strong Tory area no matter how crap the MP was.....so I have voted Liberal....not because I believed in them but because they where the only alternative to the Tories.

That is my voting history over more than fifty years....my present MP is Joe Johnson....who I swear had no idea where Orpington was until his brother Boris who was Mayor of London showed him on a map....came down and got tge job from the retiring MP.

So what is next....sorry I've digressed a little ....just wanted notDistant to understand that I'm not a true red labourite....but a true blue Tory hater....I've seen how they look after their own...and will never never be party for all the people as Cameron has been telling us.

So again what is next.....a new Tory leader who of course will automatically become PM.....someone who can deliver the will of the majority of the people....and I think that person is Angela Leadsom who came through the referendum debates with an enhanced reputation....she believes in what the people have decided and has experience in the cities banking sector and that could be a good thing ( I know Teresa May has a similar background but is a remainer)....what do others think....please look to the future and not to how you feel the referendum was run.

I need to report the death of my car.....I hope that by doing so the grieving process will be helped along a little.

1.....December 2014 ...I acquired a 2008 Honda Jazz 1.4 five door hatchback in silver.....I felt pretty chuffed (my previous car was a Honda Civic which I owned for 16 yrs....a great car).....this Jazz although six years old at the time had only 18,000 miles on the clock and had only one previous lady owner who had been averaging just 3,000 miles a year.....brilliant find.

2.....On Wednesday 15th June, Mrs Plym and I where doing our regular weekly trip to Sevenoaks....to purchase stuff as usual in the fruit & veg market...then into Cafe Nero for a drink plus a slice of chocolate fudge cake......then on for a walk around Knole Park nearby. We where approaching Sevenoaks going through Dunton Green and where passing a small parade of shops when suddenly there was a bang....stopping quickly I got out and discovered that both nearside doors had been damaged but no bodywork touched....you couldn't open the front door from the outside because the handle was damaged but it was fine opening it from the inside. An elderly lady and her husband (the passenger) had been parked by the kerb and having looked in her wing mirror saw a lorry down the road and started to pull out before it was any nearer.......she was very apologetic and said she hadn't seen me at all and took full responsibility for the accident. My car was perfectly driveable and we drove it for the next few days with no problems.

3.....Both insurance companies agreed that an estimate was required for the work and it would be put right at no cost to myself I was lent a replacement car as part of the deal until my car was returned.....in due time my car was taken away and a few days later I was contacted by a organization called Incident Management Solutions Ltd (IMS) who told me that my car was 'beyond economic repair' and an independent assessor had valued my car taking into account its excellent condition before the accident and very low mileage and they quoted a price that would be paid to me.

4.....This price I found would in no way cover the cost of replacing my Jazz for a similar good conditioned low mileage replacement. I had a chat with my insurers stating my views (in a friendly way of course) and they said that it was out of their hands now and IMS where the people to talk to.....they told me that the cost of repairing it was not very short of the value of my car......and once a repair was more than 60% of the cars value they said it was uneconomical to repair.......If I was going to dispute the valuation certain costs would be liable for me to pay.....having the car transported to a garage to cost the repairs.....certain forms to be paid for and the immediate return of the loaned car....it looked to me that I was being pressurised to accept their findings.....and costs could easily escalate making me well out of pocket.....I felt I could do nothing other than accept their findings

5.....Payment was reasonable quick and I have been looking around for another car....I soon realized that I would need to dip into my savings to get a car that I felt happy with.....it certainly will not be a Honda because that is out of my price range now.

6.....End result for something that everyone agreed was not my fault in anyway........is a feeling that I've been mugged and my Honda Jazz has been stolen from me by a system that doesn't really care for the driver whose interests they are supposed to be looking after. The way that the Insurer uses a third party to sought it out and seems to have washed their hands of the person whose money they've willingly taken for years without any claims being made.

7.....I expect my car will go to auction and be bought for a pittance and will easily be back on the road with two new doors by whoever buys it and then sold for a profit........I hope it is many miles from here in its future life because I might have a red mist moment seeing someone else driving it.

8.....My loan car is due back on Monday and that leaves me carless until I buy another car, something smells about the whole system what can
I do about it. Over my driving life...50 yrs I generally must average around 8 or 9 years per car.

Yes lets move on from some of the fantasy on here. Funniest for me was Mrs Jools quoting stuff she had read on the t'internet as fact,....that just about sums it up.

Anyway, greetings from Italy where i am pleased to report it is a solid 32 degrees and cloudless with just a gentle breeze across the pool. In a lovely remote villa -in fact so remote that the satnav didn't recognize the track we were on as a road and thought we were driving across an open field. No sign of another human being (except my wife) or habitable dwelling as far as the eye can see in any direction- just a vast olive grove and fruit orchard. Now, what to do next...swim, doze or try a mid afternoon peroni!

It is all a gidgey as my Mother would have said. Any Cornish dictionary will list the word for the uninitiated.

About 18 months ago (when the roadworks on the A38 slip road were just starting) a Polish nurse (n.b. valued NHS worker from an EU country, who, somewhat to my surprise I admit, did have motor insurance) ran into the back of me on the Manadon roundabout. I'd say the impact was at no more than 5 or 10 mph but it was enough to pierce a hole in the valance under my rear bumper and knock out one of the rear light clusters. In the end the valance was repaired rather than replaced and the cost to her insurers was a couple of hundred pounds.

Firstly, I was pressurised to accept a hire car agreement for an equivalent car for the duration of the repair (2 days max). In the event she didn't pay, I'd be liable, so I said no and took the standard courtesy car. An interesting Kia (correct that a Hyundi), with novel features like having to apply your own handbrake, switch on your own windscreen wipers and lights and change your own gears, but I survived for 2 days. I bet she'd have paid £1,000 for the hire car.

Since then, I've had constant calls from people trying to convince me that I must have suffered severe whiplash whereas I barely felt the impact. Where do these people get your number and why do they think I'm the sort of person to take part in a fraud?

Yes we where phoned up for three consecutive days by the other insurance company checking that we where not injured in anyway...including whiplash. The lady's insurance company had left a message on our phone which we discovered on returning home (4hrs later) admitting that their client was at fault and to phone them up and they would get my car repaired.........I was rather taken aback and thought I better avoid them and phone up my own insurance....not used to people admitting liability and wanting to repair my vehicle so quickly....you get suspicious don't you.

Of course the door knocks didn't look unrepairable to the extent of being a write off....so I wonder if they would have come to the same conclusion when they had assessed the damage.

By the way I was surprised that the car I have been loaned was a Citroen DS3....a diesel car that they class as a super mini.......only a year old and it certainly can accelerate.....not quite the equivalent of a Honda Jazz 1.4 but I'm not complaining.

Yep we had the same with a bang in the back of the van,, a hire van was sent out, with not any roof bars, how do we carry a ladder? no racking so tools and fittings all over the place. They dont care as they are charging a fortune.. They have kept on for a while asking for a whiplash claim.. im not interested in that either.. No one was hurt at 20 mile per hour.. If we were i aint had any symptons.. The only winner the Solicitor.. I was also hit while stationary at the lights by the Harvester and a granny about 80 went in to me in a tank? a merc old style,, the only damage was a Merc badge imprint on the rear bumper.. so had it replaced and sprayed at a cost of 1800.00 .. crazy.. i never had a hire car.. But she had had a drink by the smell of it, not drunk tho.. so we sorted it out and off she went.. Why she was driving a big car about 15 years old i dont know.. Could have hit a child.. The car was to much for her..

Why do you get phone calls from ambulance chasers......because the insurance companies sell the information on.

My daughter hit a Police car up the backside at around 2 to 3 miles per hour when she was distracted. Yes her fault but after inspection and no marks anywhere the Police Constabules decided it was nothing and she was allowed to proceed. One week later her insurance company contacted her about the claim for whiplash they had received from one of the said Constabules. Her insurance company paid out around £4000 in a settlement to this person who wouldn't have been knocked off their feet if they had been hit personally by the car. All criminals do not wear stripey jumpers and a mask.

My wife has an eye problem which recently meant she was at the Eye Infirmary on regular appointments. Being the chatty type and having to sit around for slightly lengthy periods during the process she spoke to a fair few who were getting treatment as well. A lot were fairly elderly as in probably more than 80 years old. How many do you think drove to the hospital for their appointment do you think? You know whats coming as it was the majority. Worse still after having stuff put in their eyes they were going to drive home again afterwards. One old dear she knew because she visits her daughter who lives in our street. She always visits by car. Turns out she has macular degeneration which is the same as my Mrs. My Mrs cannot see half of what's in front of her because of this condition. If she looks at your face then your ear is likely to appear on top of your head and your nose where your ear should be. Bit like a Picasso painting of the abstract variety. And that old dear who is also well in her late 70's minimum still drives her car......priceless isn't it.

The question with England I'd whether there is a system. We routinely pick the best 11 players(as defined by the press) rather than a team.

Did anyone else see the headline of an article on the beeb website yesterday that was most unfortunately put. This was on the Women's football section and read:-

NOBBS HELP ARSENAL BEAT NOTTS COUNTY

    Is that allowed?

Was watching the end of today's race in the Tour de France on the tele this afternoon. The current race leader is Chris Froome. He and two others were going up a mountain with about just under two killometres to go to the end of the race when one of them went into the back of a motorbike with the other two piling up on top. This motorbike I think had to break suddenly because some idiot on the side of the road got in the way. The spectators in this race are complete morons most of the time and virtually stand in the middle of the road waving the riders on. Loads of them in stupid dress as well. I can't think of any other sport where spectators would be allowed anywhere near competitors. Must be really happy time when you have ridden a race for 170k for 5 hours and some pillocks balls you up just to get a face on tele. I think I might just lob them off the mountain if it were me.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the "Cabinet reshuffle" today with the news that Boris is to become the Foreign Secretary. I can't make up my mind whether this is a complete disaster or a master stroke by Mrs May. I just can't imagine Boris doing important political work with all those foreign people. It's almost as bad as him being PM and meeting Donald Trump as President to discuss world domination. On the other hand he has supposedly said horrible things about loads of other Country leaders who he will now have to go and meet and talk to. That will be interesting. It's also a big kick up the jacksee for Mr Gove. Goes something like you shafted me and then you shafted Boris so I'm shafting you and promoting Boris so up your's.

Johnson apparently casually mentioned cannibalism on a visit somewhere in the South Pacific. There's diplomatic for you.

It's a cunning cabinet selection. When this becomes an almighty f*** up as it's bound to, Johnson, Davis and Fox will be the only ones around to carry the can.
