Was never popular in Queensland! Roller hockey, on the other hand, is very popular - both Quad and Inline versions.
Funnily enough wind and rain is more the norm on the west coast! ,although the last 2 winters have been a lot worse than normal! I was thinking about a set of roller blades and using the dogs to tow me.....then I remembered my condition of my knees!
Running and racquet sports I guess did it for me - too much running when younger on roads with poor trainers on
Winter motorbike riding,Rugby ,but mainly aircraft maintenance has done for my knees and lower lumber! fish oil and omega 3 keeping me going with the occasional pain killer!
2RJ Mrs N recently had a new knee and is now running around quite happily , if you can go foe an oxinium knee ,they are the best on the market at the mo ! Best Knee surgeon resides in Nottingham and is called Dr Kneedoff !!!!! Seriously thats the truth!
Can't run any more but with a forest behind the house we get lots of dog walks so exercise is not a problem - but have to say I wish I could at least go jogging once in a while - but the pain is not worth it
Me too, but not table tennis. Mrs GG beats me everytime at chess so we don't play that then. Sunday morning pub footie in my 20's and 30's, usually left wing, though I'm right footed. A bit of rugby (left wing/full back). Village cricket til I was about 45. Batted just about everywhere in the order at one time or another, a nurdler, never scored big runs. Kept wicket sometimes. Never bowled since I injured my shoulder playing 5-a side on an icy playground with the kids when I was teaching, early eighties . Can't get into much TV sport other than those three. Don't get golf at all. At the moment I can barely walk- visits to the gym with my physio trying to remind my legs how to do it. Mrs GG and I love walking so when I'm fit again and she's recovered from a knee op we'll be off to Brittany or somewhere to walk the coast paths. Edit: did a half marathon once. Never again. Knees wrecked.
Mrs GG due for a new half knee on monday. Oxford Unicompartmental System, medial compartment, she tells me. Saw them doing it on Blue Peter once.
GG- whenMrs L got back from the Royal MArsden we took a short break to Pemrokeshire and did some walking on the coastal path there - brilliant it was
All this talk of new knees has me puzzled. After years of overuse playing various codes of football, basketball and squash - plus having surgery after a car crash, my left knee is basically useless. Yet my doctor tells me that I am too young for a knee replacement - stating that new knees have a limited life span (12 years) and cant be replaced. Am now wondering who's right
Blue Peter like it! Mrs N had to have a full replacement and there were some arthritic problems as well!(she is only 43) Fortunately she was covered by my company health insurance!!! She did a lot of tinternet homework and found this oxinium product! she was allergic to a lot of the other alternatives so had the first oxinium knee in the UK!,Even the company rep that makes them attended the op and has had frequent contact with her!
BB these ones I am on about last an anticipated 20 plus , patients that have had them globally have never had to have them renewed! I believe also that the company that makes them is Australian! Oxinium is a form of industrial diamond! so it is extremely hard wearing!
We had to go to the uk for the op because Norway deemed my wife too young , yet for 2 years she could hardly walk! If you would like to discuss it with her I can pm you her email address!
