One of the most dramatic F1 races I have ever seen at Jeddah this w/e. Verstappen versus Hamilton Hamilton turned it around again..... and both drivers looked completely shattered......... well worth a look at the highlights
As I've mentioned before, my username reflects that I used to comment a lot on the old 606 F1 page as well as the Watford pages. I can only imagine the arguments there if it still existed! Certainly the comments section of the F1 news website I use has exploded with Lewis fans complaining about how dirty Max is and Max fans complaining about the biased British media. I think it's all going to end in tears in the next race in a Senna/Prost style collision.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/59542219 This is a good analysis.... ...and a cynic might say that Verstappen could have afforded to take Hamilton out due to the number of wins more he had over him which count inthe final analysis. .....I want Hamilton to win so am not impartial.... BUT.... some of Verstappens tactics were very dodgy.......
Damon Hill made a good point. If that happened will the FIA do to Verstappen what they did to Schumacher in 1997 when he tried to take his opponent out ?
I guess Verstappen may have to think twice about his behaviour... everyone will be watching his every move..... MInd you during the race he sounded fraught so many times when speaking to his team..... Hamilton certainly has a cooler head....
It is still there and I have started to follow it Earlier oh in the season it was about 60 - 40% in favour Lewis, now almost 100% for Lewis
The key difference in 1997 was that Schumacher would have finished second in the championship had he not been disqualified, so it didn't matter anywhere near as much. Also, it was pretty darn blatant as he literally turned into Villeneuve as he went past to bang into him. There will be all sorts of appeals if the FIA disqualify Verstappen after a collision that takes out both drivers, as Verstappen would be champion otherwise. Even worse if it's not obviously intentional, and could be seen as a racing incident where Verstappen is more at fault than Hamilton. I'm worried about a 1994 style situation, where Schumacher won taking Hill out. At the time, it wasn't at all clear if it was an accident or intentional. Subsequently, seeing what Schumacher did in 1997, I think it was very much intentional and he should have been disqualified in 1994, giving the title to Hill.
Oh dear - usual disaster at the start of the Ashes. Burns out first ball and it didn't get much better after that.
A lot depends on how much integrity and also self control Verstappen has.... .looks like he could make rash moves........ I hope very much that drivers have been warned........................
Aussies and Travis Head potentially putting us out of the game? With our batting a lead of 180/200 will probably be enough!
