I felt joint winners would be a good thing, winning because we got the most boundaries is a bit abitrary as any other such measure would be. I don't really feel that we won the world cup properly.
That's the Ozzie cricket mentality all over.. Which is why we can erm.. Look forward.. To a few weeks of sledging..
For those who don't like or understand Cricket (myself included) it is stupid to see how many people have jumped on the world cup winning band wagon. Or maybe there were more wierdos in the cricketing closet that I realised!!
That is the issue - all youngsters will learn how to bash the ball around or bowl fast but will they understand how to keep their wicket for a day or two or bowl 30/40 overs a day? ECB have got this 100 ball tournament coming up next summer meaning the 4/5 day game will come even less relevant!
I have enjoyed watching an entire four day championship game sat in a deckchair at Hove. It is a different game entirely to the limited over affairs, and we can see that from countries having a Test side and a one day side. Different techniques and tactics are required, and although I love a four day game I can see the attraction of the one day one that hardly ever has a tie.
Geraint Thomas down in a heap on the stage today. He appeared to get too close to a kerb on a sharp right hand turn, and has given his elbow and knee a skinning. He had to wait for a new bike, but soon rejoined the main peloton.
Think he missed out on some hard racing earlier, and a bit like a footballer who misses pre-season is struggling to catch up.
Maybe his team will focus more on Bernal to challenge the leader ? Real test starts tomorrow in the Alps..
I don't remember ever seeing before today a team handing out ice cubes to put in the riders helmets. Another crash. Jakob Fuglsang taken off in an ambulance.
How typically English - win the World Cup one week then fall to 46/7 against Ireland at Lords in the test match.
We are in a heatwave, so you get into your pink rabbit costume, and go and stand in the blazing sun to watch the Tour riders go by. Very strange.
I did see it, and to be honest it didn't look much more than a rider losing concentration for a moment, wandered off line, and they bumped into each other. After some of the crashes that come about in the same way it seems daft as neither of them came off their bikes.
Looks like we have found the answer to our opener problems!! Quintana back in contention for the Tour ?
