A nice symmetry to his career - begins with a century against India and ends with one (plus a 50 in the other innings) Well played Sir. A quiz on who have partnered Cook at the top since his started back in 2006 - rather sums up the problems England have had in terms of openers post Strauss. What a fabulous days cricket for England, and for Cook, Root and Anderson. The accountant who used to do my company's audit once told me that he spent his Spring and Summer preparing his village cricket pitch. He said that if his life had been different he would have loved to have become a groundsman for a county. I suppose as we get older we can look back and wonder if we chose the right career path.
Not sure if it's just me but here is my two penn'orth anyway. Selena's behaviour was appalling and correctly punished, I also think she should receive further sanctions for bringing the sport into disrepute. The men she mentioned should be punished in equal measure to her punishment, not she punished less
What a fitting end to the series - Jimmy Anderson taking the last wicket to break the record number of wickets for a fast bowler!
Would love to see Jimmy take his 600th in an Ashes Test next summer. The problem is that it would mean him taking 35 or less in the upcoming tours of Sri Lanka and the Windies, plus the 4 day Test in Ireland at the beginning of next summer.
West Indies might be profitable - probably rain in Ireland as it always seems to when England play there.
Barry I see no reason why that shouldn't happen. He'd need more than a 5 wicket average per match and his current average is less than 4. Even in this series he had an average of just under 5. And in Sri Lanka I'd expect Moen and Rashid to get a bag full of wickets so less for Jimmy. Andwho knows what Curran is capable of doing.. So yeah would be special to see.
Eyes will be on the Ryder Cup next week with Justin Rose and Tiger Woods the men in form it seems. Woods winning his first tournament for some time and Rose earning the overall play-off prize.
Love watching the Ryder Cup, as does Mrs Fez - it's the only golf she'll watch. I think the Americans will have too much for us. I'm unfamiliar with the course for a change, too!
