It grates the French that they have not had a winner for a very long time, they get really excited when they even win a stage, especially in the mountains. It makes it doubly worse when the Brits keep winning the darn thing.
Not a good day for Chris Froome. Catapulted over a barrier and landed on his shoulder, but the team helped him back. Other players who are also seen to be his main rivals had their troubles. A nice flat stage by the seaside, turned out to be a bit of a nightmare for many.
Kevin Anderson will be glad for a day off after his win today ! But not sure Nadal or Djokovic will be happy about having to come back tomorrow..potentially.
Fabulous day in the Alps today with a stage win for Geraint Thomas taking him into the overall lead and the yellow jersey, with Chris Froome now in second place overall. If today was hard, tomorrow will be even worse with three huge climbs.
Froome is the actual team leader, so I guess at the end of the day they want him to win. However to have two who could win is a good insurance against accident. Over the years I have been watching I have seen team leaders crash out. Richie Porte has already crashed out this race, leaving his BMC team without a replacement who could win.
Another brilliant day in the Alps with Geraint Thomas winning again, just a couple of seconds ahead of Chris Froome. Very rarely will you see a sprint finish at the top of Alpe d'Huez, but to have four riders all going for the line was beyond anything I have seen before.
Great racing between the top riders . Noticed Froome almost got a wack again again from a spectator .
They need to throw the book at some of the French morons who are jostling and throwing dodgy liquid over Froome and the other Sky riders. Sure Sky have the money to pay for the best riders, it is up to the other teams to financially compete.
They just cannot stand us being so successful really and not Frenchman winning for ages. As for the golf.. The media would love Tiger to win wouldn't they? Probably be one of Johnson or Spieth.
Totally agree - and good to see Mcllroy looking happier on the course again. He always plays better in that frame of mind.
'Respect us or riders won't return'Sir Dave Brailsford rails at spitting and booing Tour de France fans Dave Brailsford rightly asking for French TdF fans to respect his team.
