Hope so - would love to shut the Irish up next week. They've denied us 3 grand slams in 17 years in Dublin. Would be lovely to return the favour at Twickenham - on St Patrick's Day
Currently watching Ireland v Scotland in a different sport - the Cricket World Cup qualifier. Looking at this performance, I'm struggling to work out how Scotland managed to bowl out their opposition in every other game so far.
Mark, the Debate this evening had Bob Willis having a go at everyone from the ICC to the players, and that was in just 25 minutes with Nasser Hussain pretty much agreeing with him. I must admit that with all the tools at his disposal, I can't understand why Marais Erasmus wasn't able to use ball tracker to determine that Chris Woakes did run out Kane Williamson - the direction that the ball was going after Ross Taylor hit it would've taken it past the stumps if Woakes hadn't intervened.
I didn't know whether to post this in the non-Watford football thread, but decided to put it here. I'm watching the Test match and spotted a "Wenger out" placard at Eden Park - does that mean he's now being blamed for the failure of England's cricketers?
I wonder if any of the IPL franchise holders will be considering cancelling the contracts of certain Australian players.
I'm not a great admirer of Smith and Co but I think the English pundits giving them stick have short memories. Atherton and Stewart both did the same thing and Gooch said in his playing days it was pretty much standard practice!
It has always been the Aussies winding up everyone ,i don't remember us having much bad blood with many other teams
We have...Pakistan and Mike Gatting come to mind. Even in our current team, Anderson and Stokes have sparked unpleasant rows with opponents. Equally there are Aussie test players who were and are honest likeable characters. Gilchrist was one of the only 'walkers' in test cricket. The West Indies in their prime wound up opponents very successfully. I think there's a degree of hypocrisy and tarring everyone with the same brush in the attitude of some current pundits.
The main one that happens is the ball being thrown in on the bounce. I was glad to see that Faf du Plessis didn't comment, as he was caught a couple of years ago. I think what makes things worse for Smith, is that he seems to have lied in the press conference when he said that Lehmann had nothing to do with it when he's shown on a walkie-talkie to the 12th man who then goes to speak to Bancroft. I wonder who will be in the Australian team coming to England for the ODIs in the summer. The stand-in captain was someone who was a doubt to be in the team for the Ashes, and the obvious choices after Smith and Warner are probably Cummins, Starc and Lyon. I do appreciate that it is a long time since the Australian captain has been a bowler, but as someone for just the last day (as it turned out) of a Test match, I would think that would not exclude them. The logical conclusion is that they were a part of this "leadership group". I admit this is speculation on my part and we'll all have to wait and see what the results of the CA investigation are. I don't know if any of you heard that KP questioned whether David Saker was involved, and he was England bowling coach before Ottis Gibson, the current SA coach.
