Here's a story from the NHL which, by any standards, takes some beating for being downright nasty and meanspirited to a point I don't think even the likes of FIFA would contemplate doing this to a player: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2016/1/...ar-game-trade-coyotes-nhl-canadiens-wife-kids Unbelievable.
I think Joe Root is my favourite sportsman outside football. Half time at the SA T20 game today was the equivalent of being 5-0 down at half time..terrible bowling and average fielding and observers saying England should be packing their bags. Then a bloke who doesn't look a day over 16 plays a quite brilliant innings and finds time to have a laugh in the middle of all the pressure. Just a shame he wasn't still there at the end, but great to watch all the same.
Would it be fair to assume that an English win in Paris tonight will result in our Celtic neighbours claiming that grand slams are meaningless? Boy do we need this one.
JRFC are having a brilliant season - 5th in the Championship and a British & Irish Cup semi-final this afternoon at Yorkshire Carnegie.
Absorbing F1 GP this morning..... Bad start by the Mercedes boys... .then a red flag stopped the race and Mercedes restarted with a better strategy.... Ferrari must be furious with themselves. PS Interesting tantrums from Verstappen PPS Alonso very lucky after his car was destroyed in a crash
I should have waited for the semi result - it was 33-32 to YC. On the plus side, Guernsey won't be able to avoid their annual mauling in the Siam Cup - the B&I Cup Final is the same weekend.
The dangers of answering the call of nature - three more wickets down! 85-7 against Afghanistan - dare I smile?
Terrific day of sport yesterday what with the cricket and some cracking boxing last night... I think there was a football match sandwiched in between.
Re the boxing: I hope Blackwell makes a full recovery. Obviously he'll never box again but hopefully he will be able to lead a normal life.
Bit of a coincidence that father and son end an opponent's career in a title fight, I hope Blackwell fares better than the other one who's name escapes me! I keep wanting to say Nigel Benn but it wasn't!
