There were almost 19,000 spectators at Lords tonight for the finals of the 100 cricket. It is a different game to a test match or a four-day county game, with many of the subtleties lost. If you treat it as a different game, it can be enjoyable, but what it has done is take a county like Northants out of the usual loss into profit. It is still the counties that bring young players through to the international scene, so it is a winning situation, if you like this instant cricket, or spend a quiet day at a county ground with a few mates.
Seems to really divide people but guess the ECB won’t care if it brings in money but certainly does seem to upset most of the counties who the is based around in this country .
How cool can you get? Mark Wood gets a short ball from Asitha Fernando and hooks it into the stands! To finish off the extraordinary sequence, it's caught in the crowd ONE-HANDED by a bloke holding a pint in the other.
A crap game for a final, but well done to Penrith for beating Melbourne to win their fourth consecutive NRL title.
Blimey - just noticed the score in the India vs New Zealand Test match. After winning the toss and electing to bat, India were all out for 46 - their lowest ever score in India.
Very sad for Chris Hoy. Wife has MS too. https://x.com/HonestFrank/status/1847749154526646745 What tragic news.
Bad enough having one such disease in the family, but to have two must be devastating - especially for their children.
Just watched an exhilarating display of running rugby from Scotland as they steamrolled Fiji 57-17. I was knackered after 20 minutes from just watching - but they were barely sweating after 80 minutes of near non-stop running.
Another big win for Scotland at Murrayfield, 59-21 against Portugal - a bit of a scrappy game to be honest though. Scotland made 14 changes from their last match - one of them being 19 year old Freddie Douglas, who became their youngest debutant ever. Amazingly it was his first ever senior game - and his first as a professional player.
Wales Head Coach Warren Garland must be fearful for his job after his side slumped to their eleventh straight defeat - a 20-52 thrashing by Australia. They face South Africa next, so he may well want to quit before then...
Australia deep in trouble against India in Perth - chasing 534 to win, they're 12/3 at the end of day 3.
