Missed the winning match and coupled of hours... red wine 1 ryder cup 0!!! Old age and red wine=zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I often wonder what drives people to undertake sports like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ_IQS3VKjA#t=400 But I take my hat off to the guy - I would no more contemplate doing this than voluntarily watch L*t*n play. Having been to Skye, I know how tiring it is just looking at that mountain ridge....
Good win for Hamilton but overshadowed by that accident at the end. Hopefully Jules Bianchi will be ok. The quick treatment might save him.
Perfomance of the year by Treve to win her second successive Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe. Congrats to the connections as she really shouldn't have had a prayer.
Share your thoughts Mark - he is out of surgery so hope all goes well for him. Good win for Hamilton - his first in Japan I think
I certainly wish him well and hope he does make a full recovery. The French press are reporting things in much the same way as the Beeb, but are already asking the question about should the race have been stopped earlier. It is a long time since we had a season with a fatality because of the safety improvements to tracks and cars. I don't know if the race should have be halted as the organizers are better placed than me to make a judgement, but certain drivers were saying sometime before the accident that conditions were impossible.
Seems like a really unlucky one, the flags should have slowed folk down and made them extra cautious and chances of hitting where he hit rather than 10ft either side must be one in a million.... breathing under own impetus now, hopefully will make a good recovery, we really have become accustomed to thinking motor racing is safe but one look at Lauda reminds me every time how dangerous it is and every time I go to Le mans and go to the bar on Mulsanne I have this picture in my head of a flying Merc at 200+mph, still doesn't stop us trying to get to the wrong places for a better view, its human nature to seek risk and take the thrill of beating danger, its just sometimes the danger beats the human..... Not taking risks would make our lives so dull......
Danger is now they won't try to remove cars until the end of a race which might only lead to more serious incidents..
More likely they will stop the race straightaway rather than send a safety car out which can take time to slow the cars.
I hope he took his puncture repair kit with him just in case. If only Steve McQueen had known how to jump a wire fence like that !
Not surprisingly there is quite a reaction to the crash here. "It's an accident without safety car on track accident , stated Alain Prost . So there is a fault, and it is appalling! " "It shocks me, it makes me sad and it makes me angry because I feel like I'm back in the 80s, it reminds me of very bad memories , said the four-time world champion. We had not seen that in F1 for a long time. Perhaps the commissioners were less sharp, less attentive with fatigue in these difficult conditions. F1 is safer in recent years, such a scenario is incredible." Someone has some video that they tried to post on news sites, but it has been blocked. Serious, but stable is the only news on his condition.
I suspect a lot have seen it elsewhere - just ploughed nose first into the tractor which considering its a great big heavy thing jumped in the air quite a bit. Looks lucky to even be alive.
Wasps are to leave Adams Park and move to a new home, the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. A long way from their Sudbury origin. The Coventry City FC fans are upset but their club are only tennants, Wasps have bought into the Ricoh. Coventry RFC, Broadstreet and Barker Butts, the local rugby clubs aren't too pleased either, nor are Leicester Tigers who have a training facility in Broadstreet.
