Having watched it back a few times I think he fully deserves the penalty. I was trying when I first saw it to look at it from an equal pov, as I prefer Hamilton (not that I don't like Verstappen) and want him to win the title, so could tried to see it from the perspective of Hamilton forcing him into that area but it's pretty clear Max had no remit to try for the move as he wasn't alongside in the corner, so the corner wasn't his, and he should've backed out. Racing incident would have been ok too but since the stewards have gone with a penalty I think that's the right, and only real call. Great day for McLaren, good to see a shoey, well three shoeys, too
There was plenty that went through there two cars wide, I watched the replay several times and Lewis simply didn't allow the space. However, Max did it to Lewis on the first lap too. I think the incident at Silverstone was far worse but the punishment is more severe today. Both cases can be argued either way too.
I try not to look on here until I've watched it but don't always realise the race is or as been on I have it set to record automatically and watch it when I get chance.
Anyway, I reckon Lewis will soon be turning up like earnest with a dress, zimmerframe and neck brace. It's a fit up based on verstappen sounding steamed 2 laps prior. Mercedes are working all the angles yet Hamilton was trying to reverse out there and continue so this terrible neck pain stuff sounds a bit too rich for me. The stewards fall for it though, the better thing to do would be to admit those speed Bumps are incredibly stupid and should be removed
Totally unnecessary, the driver's presumably know that if they try to use the run off to overtake then they have to give the place back or get a penalty so all they do is potentially damage cars that are forced wide so you lose cars from the race, or, cause a potentially very serious incident. Know what you're saying re Merc and RB PR lines, being fair to Hamilton I'd imagine he'll have been running on adrenaline given he'd had a rival's car essentially run him over and near land on him so that will have masked any pain, how bad it really is, we'll never know.
Djokovic v Medvedev now in the 'other' US Open final. I seriously hope Djokovic loses, the guy is such a douchebag, Medvedev just played a sweet drop volley with a ton of slice which Djokovic put in the net, so he goes to blast the ball or hurl his racket as a ball kid is coming that way, thankfully he didn't do either. He loses the next point and he smashes his racket. Just a complete pr*ck, a petulant and immature child and such a bad example. He's a set down but he'll probably inevitably find a way to win it.
Medvedev wins it in straight sets. Excellent. Hopefully that's the end of the miserable, joyless b*stard Djokovic and he never wins another major
ND has been **** since Wimbledon. He'll win more Opens, but think this was the last chance for the Grand Slam
Medvedev has held his standard for a long time. Theres 3 guys with 60 titles between them. He deserves one ffs. The others ability over so long has denied him
Just watched it again. This gives a big build up... https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMR92msB2/ ... and tbf, Max probably shouldn't have even tried to go around the outside on turn one. He was clearly behind going into that corner and probably should have just fell in line. He obviously didn't want to do that on the inferior tyres, race was already over.
There was a fair to middling chance that Hamilton's tyres were going to go off before the end. In the end verstappen as dead right. He let hamilton waltz by in the race where he was out of position. This time he took him out. Both men were not going round that corner. Hamilton was only out of pits too he also knew his tyres were going to be cold and he was going to be in trouble for the next run so he wasnt backing out either. Put it this way. Norris was brave in the restart. Massive pass. Imagine max and Lewis at 190mph hitting each other on curve grande. We got the least worst impact imo.
Of course, if RB hadn't ****ed up Max's stop it would have been a very different race; Lewis wouldn't have pitted that early either. Then you can add Mercedes ****ing up Lewis' stop too, they wouldn't have been together had that not gone wrong. Bit of 'final destination' about it
Shocking news re. ex cycling pro Chris Sorensen RIP He was supposed to be doing some media stuff for the Road World championships, which start today.
With Max having a three grid space penalty, could we see him sacrifice the race and change engine parts if he as a poor qualifying session? If he gets lower than third plus the penalty, I reckon he might take the hit.
People are saying hamilton should follow him as well but imo with leclerc already down there I'd give it a miss. I dont recall this ****hole being a passing track. They have to take it sometime so the question is damage limitation. Really dont know what the right answer for either is but sort of would have said spa, but then it imploded as a race.
