Anyway with the Egg Chasing over... 5-1 win. Big win against the other team chasing the league title. Lost to them away so today felt even better and drags them down to the same pts as us (same potential pts as well), we still have the better GD (far better). Onto tomorrow, 2 games this weekend
good stuff.... all very tight. how many games left? oh the days when you I played two games in a weekend...usually one bloody after the other bevause the seconds didn't have enough players lol.
We both have 9 left, obviously after tomorrow we'll have 8. Its also very likely both teams will awarded the win for games against the bottom team (as they late cancelled) They have a double header next weekend, so everything will be square again (in terms of games) next Sunday. Difficult to say who has the better run-in. We still have to play the other team in contention away, which probably makes ours slightly trickier.
Bugger off this is other sports section. Would have suited England better if the Irish had lost....but fair play they gave it everything after the 40 mins was up.
Am I being thick then? what sport are you talking about if not football? Congrats on starting thread.
It's the jolly hockey sticks brigade seriously though it's the only high achieving sports star we have on here since greez had his Sunday league career cruelly **** short by that toilet tragedy
I'd guess that'd be Neston Hockey Club. You could have watched our 1st team play against them earlier in the season Absolute joke today. Supposed to be playing away at Barnsley, our 3rd attempt to do so. Turned up and the gates were ****ing locked and no ground staff insight and there never was. ****ers never turned up to unlock, match abandoned (again!). Going to try and claim the game, cause as I said, this is the Third time we've try to play them.
tbf its not really their fault today, other than they had a home game yesterday so should have confirmed with caretaker. They booked the venue, but the agency that runs the pitch and facilities evidently didn't tell the ground-staff. Last two times for cancellation were due to Frozen pitch, rather than locked gates, but both were cancelled last minute. 1st time we were already there before it was called, in fact we were there before the home team. And they won't be claiming the gates weren't locked as they need to get their money back for pitch hire Yes, he's also a League representative, so convincing isn't a problem (also he's my Dad). Both were there (two in Hockey, one home and one away umpire) Claiming points... sometimes its easy, sometimes its hard. In this case, they might ask to play again, but since we already have a game in the overflow week (Saturday after the league finishes) options are limited. They also don't really want to play on a Sunday (was hard enough getting this week sorted), so they could be forced to concede as its their **** up.
Maybe, but depends on us and the other 2 teams at the top losing a fair amount of our remaining games. So an outside chance. Problem now is that all the games have to be finished by a certain date, in order for the Play-off games to be played on the right weekend. We're already booked up right upto the week before the cut off date (in terms of Saturdays), and they had trouble even getting a team out for this Sunday, so its unlikely they'll be able to do another Sunday (which we're not too keen on either).
tbh if you could get away with not playing like that.. well all sorts of gamesmanship comes to.mind. bribe a team to not play against your rival.to put them off their stride. pay not to play so that your rival has to play two games a weekend at end of league And so forth and so on.
If only we or any club had money to do that. Little to no money in Hockey, most get eaten up by the Ladies national team.
