One of my managers at work believes the earth is flat and therefore the antarctic doesn't exist and you can't go there. At first I thought he was just been silly but it's an actual real thing there are quite a few, let's call them idiots to be polite that actually believe the earth is flat and have their own 'flat earth society'. Crazy it is.
It's always heart warming to see an old guy strutting his stuff in sport. The great Norwegian skier Aksel Lund Svindal, a gold medalist in the 2010 Olympic Super G and 5 time World Champion, is at the moment making a one act affair in the World Cup. The 35 year old holds a massive lead over his opposition. Here he wins the DH at Val Gardena last month.
With the Winter Olympics about three weeks away, everyone is rushing towards full form. Swiss skier Beat Feuz won the downhill on the famed Lauberhorn course in Switzerland last weekend. I can't imagine how frightening it would be when reaching speeds of 145+ kph.
About a week ago, Austrian record holder for the 500, 1000 and 1500, Vanessa Herzog, won the 500m gold at the European Champs. At the risk of sounding sexist, gotta love the legs on the ladies. Roll on the games.
He was at Wycombe for a year and was a legend in that short time. Many tributes to him on Wycombe Wanderers twitter. Here are his goals for Wycombe (my team by the way - through and through)
Charles Burnett, the man who drove the car affectionately known as the "fastest kettle in the world" has died in a helicopter crash. Zimbabwean opposition leader Roy Bennett, his wife Heather and pilots Jamie Colman Dodd and Paul Cobb also perished. The 2009 runs of the steam powered car.
The Russian anti-doping agency Rusada rolled up at the recent Siberian Indoor Championships and 30 athletics instantly ****ed off.

So the Winter Olympics have started – thank goodness most of it is in the early hours and easily avoided. I had to laugh at the IOC president calling it the two Koreas sending out a “message of peace”. I guess that means the Korean War restarts in May or June, as soon as it is warm enough for everyone except Tongan flag bearers and polar bears. The Donald will sort that one out. No point the North Korean team going home with Samsung mobiles as they probably have no mobile network and no-one to call back in Pyongyang. No doubt coverage of the games will be heavily censored and those whose performance is lacklustre will be sent for rehabilitation.
Jujimufu, the man known as the anabolic acrobat, takes on fight specialist Shane Fazen for some light hearted fun. I like the respect they have for each other. Three rounds, the first boxing, second kick boxing and the third MMA.
