Yes I think that is what it was. I called one of the Hull players ******ed, which was in no way meant to be disrespectful to people with disabilities because I wasn't thinking that. Here in the U.S. we will regularly call each other ******ed etc, but on my fathers grave would never demean anyone with that infliction or anyone with a disability. For example in the UK the C word is used a lot, here almost never, and if used never ends well if you know what I mean. While both country's speak English, the actual language spoken has very different meanings. I'll work on that.
Actually Mark, I believe it would more likely have been for your remark about Sagbo having down syndrome.
We do say retarted a lot. I have tried to tell them saying **** is the quickest way to never have sex with a female again.
Just you all in general. The **** convo has come up a few times on here. I cant tell you the level that girls will find that offensive here. Its an instant breakup and saying infront of a bunch of girls will mean zero sex with anyone they know.
Jesus Christ Brady, if you say the C-bomb in certain parts of America you might not make it out alive. It's the worst of the worst.
the ******ed lingo is kinda thought of badly here, but markinla used the 'does sagbo have down syndrome' line and that's incredibly offensive and disgusting the **** line though, just a proper british line, we love it
The only word I can think of that is found to be more offensive here is the n word. Saying someone is retarted isnt really meant to be insulting here. Its an insult but it is so mild that it is used towards friends. It is considered offensive to say that to someone who has a disability but to someone who does not have a disablility it isnt really considered to be bad. I have heard people say the down syndrome thing before and normally the intention is to be pretty offensive. I wouldnt say it was common but it is said.
well it might be said but it's pretty inexcusable, fair enough he's an american, we ain't punishing him more just bringing the subject up, we understand different cultures have different meanings for use of words, i do know from experience, ******ed is a popular american insult but it's not meant in the same way that us british deem it ******ed in usa is used as like.. woah you died on halo.. god you're ******ed.. a bad example but you get my point.. there's no criticism, from me, just explaining from a british point of view! we are all here to learn! and did you reply to my message ellewoods?
He should feel bad about saying the down syndrome thing so the critism is good. The halo example is a good one on how we use the word ******ed. I responded to your message that asked about the trail. Ill send my reply again incase it didnt get to you for some reason.
If you look up the c word in Wikipedia there's an interesting article. Shakespeare used wordplay with the word country, emphasising the first syllable.
That's problem, now that I think about it I did say that, but I wasn't trying to be offensive never in my last breath. That's not me. What I will say is that I think is cool is we can converse over 6 thousand miles away and be Hull fans. Our weakness in the middle is going to kill us.
Mark and I are just hoping that we survive the fires that are coming this summer. **** knows when it is going to rain again here.
