The first photos have been released showing the star-studded cast of the new Dad's Army film on set and in character.

Toby Jones and Catherine Zeta Jones lead the line-up for the remake of the classic Second World War comedy.

Jones plays Captain Mainwaring, the leader of the branch of the Home Guard, while Zeta Jones is a glamorous journalist called Rose.

I'm not the biggest fan of stand up comedy tbh, but one person I simply can't stand at all yet everyone else seems to love is Ricky Gervais. All he ever seems to do is make *****phile related jokes and laugh about how he is going to rape kids, and because it's him people laugh. Makes my stomach churn to be honest.

Depends what you call comedy...I can't stand some of the current crop of stand ups who just try to out do each other in pushing the boundaries of being 's controversial...Dads Army was just great situation comedy which in my opinion has stood the test of time..

    Dad's Army ain't it.

"Don't tell them your name, Pike"

...errr, that's it. The only gag they ever had.

Shame was John Le Messurier (sp) was actually a fine actor humbled and ruined by that pish.

Everyone has a different taste in humour I suppose, and with Dad's Army being just about the most successful comedy series in British history, it appears that I'm not alone in enjoying it...

90% of Ricky Gervais' comedy is based on Atheism, disbelieving, fat people or his ego.

I own Animals, Politics, Fame and Science and he's probably referenced jokes of that nature twice in all four, that hardly constitutes "All he ever seems to do".

****ing hell mate, it's not like he goes around advocating rape or child abuse. He's hardly Frankie Boyle is he? I get why people don't like him, but to say "All he ever seems to do is make *****phile related jokes..." is ridiculous.

Not a fan of Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand or Frankie Boyle - you can be funny and offensive but a lot of the time these three seems to think you have to be offensive / controversial to be funny.

And quite why the BBC see fit to give Brand so much airtime is beyond me. He's not funny, not talented and his political "insight" is pretty much lifted from 1980s Ben Elton scripts.

Dad's Army was ****e to be fair, I can't stand any of that crap, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Last of the summer wine... total garbage.

I like OF&Horses mind, that's the exception for me.

My worst fear is being stuck in a room with Paul Whitehouse, anything with his ****ing stupid face on makes me wanna put my foot through the tele.

Don't eat ya dinner whilst watching that mind mate, I fell victim to that. Dirty old wrinkly toothless ratbag in the sink with a scrubbing brush whilst I'm trying to get my fajitas on. Absolutely lifting.
