Please let me do the thread. I know more about the ****er than your doctor and physios <laugh>

Seriously doubt that mate, ive had to see the best of the best specialists given what a complex case it is

My leg will be in a medical journal and did you know they have sent my case around the country for students to study <diva>

not really a good thing though is it <doh>

You should send you CV to companies twice. One with your real age and another with a false younger age (obviously different name too). If you onyl receive one interview then you can sue them under age discrimination #newbusinessidea

You know, one of those HR fat thirty-something cows that I so despise (not that I'm stereotyping...) once said to us at a conference on diversity that she was determined to phase out as many white, middle-aged men and their 'outdated ' opinions on workers' rights. Some brave soul asked her how that fitted in with the company's policy on age discrimination that we'd just been indoctrinated on. When they had a re-org three months later it was found he didn't have the 'values and behaviours' they were looking for....

Human Remains, is the right description for them, know nothing, smart arses, who can't hack a proper job, so end up pontificating about internal policy & other meaningless 'flower arranging' ****e.

Good luck pal.

PS...make sure you still get your redundancy pay though <ok>

Unfortunately, being a contractor precludes me from any sort of redundancy payment.
Technically, they could give a weeks notice paid in lieu and be escorted off the premises.
Luckily, my immediate boss dug his heels in on this and said "No - he's been here nearly 10 years, I think he deserves a bit more respect than that, considering that he hasn't actually done anything wrong, or broken any company rules"

So I've got about 12 weeks before my current wages dry up (weekly paid)

Totally ****ing agree <ok>

I despise them all with a passion (apart from the little blonde that visits us occasionally)

I've been self-employed for thirty years so my understanding of the machinations of the job market is minimal, shall we say.
All I can do is wish you luck mate, and hope you find something.
That or early retirement? :)

I'd love to!!

Again, unfortunately, neither me or the wife have anything like a reasonable pension - I've got a few little bits scattered around but nothing substantial enough to retire on.

We've already decided that whenever one or both of us can't work any more, we're going to have to sell up, downsize & probably move somewhere else

I'm not impressed with the Recruitment/HR bashing going on in this thread!

What you need to realise is that in HR, you get to make all the policies but you don't have to follow them
#perkofthejob <whistle>
