That's usually what I tell people who question why I eat meat. Every individual is unique, cancer affects different people in different ways. To say it's all in the meat is ridiculous and inaccurate.
It’s right. I’ve been to a presentation that suggested we all have all cancers within us. The key is what triggers them. They can lay dormant or develop. Having the wrong key at the wrong time is what it’s all about. People smoke all their life & don’t get lung cancer even though there is scientific data that shows smoking does indeed cause cancer. We’re all different.
BTW i' m not a vegan! Amazing how people continue to choose to deny what is by the day becoming established facts ( inspite of the best marketing efforts of meat, dairy, big pharma, and vested interests of other related industries). And then there's the compassion angle; absolutely no justification for the unecessary horror we inflict on our fellow animals ..... unless its a dog, cat or, back to the original point, a horse. Our speciism differentiation makes no sense whatsoever, yet most people are too thick or ignorant to realise it or else stubbonly choose to ignore what they deep down know is the truth (as they 'aww' over baby lambs, chicks, ducklings, whatever then next meal tuck into their meat). Times and minds are though slowly but surely changing; another 10 to 20 years time will see massive change. No doubt.
Well, that's it. My grandmother smoked 20 a day until she was 75, never caught lung cancer. She had breast cancer early on in life, which was only small and treatable. She lived to be 94. She also ate a lot of meat. So did my grandfather and he lived to be 92. He didn't give a **** about cows and he was a war hero.
But people know this, when I order a steak, I know it wasn't grown on a tree. I worked in an abbatoir in my teen years, I'm aware of the process of the creation of consumable meat products. It's gross, sure. But it doesn't put me or the rest of the meat eating world off. Specisism, as you called it, is something that all animals do. They look after their own species first and that's true right across the animal kindgom. If you're suggesting that our intelligence means we should avoid this, then I'd have to ask, why? Is it selfish to eat meat for pleasure? No. Other animals do too. In my opinion, we only get one go around in life, if we sacrifice pleasure for the good of those that don't appreciate it, it isn't worth it, is it? Perhaps there are other things we could eat, but there are other things we could do, yet we don't. We are a selfish species, but we sort of have to be, if we weren't, life would be a bit pointless.
First off, we are not designed to eat meat. It is not natural to us. If it were, we would have claws, teeth that can rip flesh apart, a digestive system to cope with raw flesh, intestines a fraction of the size, etc etc, just like other natural eat meaters. We are related to chimps and gorillas not lions, tigers, etc. Secondly, meat eating animals, in fact any other animal, rarely kill and eat other animals for pleasure. They do what comes naturally to them, and they do it for survival. We are the only animal to do what we do, and its a relatively new practice in terms of our evolution. All totally unnecessary and, if we are honest with ourselves, undefendable.
Most members of the cat family kill for pleasure. As do Dolphins and members of the whale family. We aren't designed to do a lot of things we do, but we do them. Chimpanzees, our closest relative in the ape world, are in fact omnivores. They are primarily vegetarian, but they do occasionally eat meat. Many other members of the homonid family do eat meat as well as vegetables, although gorrilas are only vegetarian. So if we did evolve from apes, as a member of the homo line (snigger), it makes sense that we do eat meat and the idea that we aren't "designed" to eat meat is false, no matter how convincing it sounds. My question with all people who protest the use of animal products is, who exactly am I justifying myself to? You say it's indefensible, yet I don't think there's anybody I need to hold myself to account to or give justification to for my choices. I don't justify myself to anybody for anything I do that's my own choice. If it's at work, I answer to my boss. If I break the law, I answer to the law. But short of that, I can't really see the need to justify my actions to anybody.
We have incisors and canines (carnivores), molars (herbivores). Animals with these teeth are omnivores. Humans lack cellulases or cellulosic symbionts, most herbivores have these. Humans have mant proteases as carnivores do. Humans have sucrases that digest fruits. Vegans require to supplement their diet for vitamin B12, it only comes from animal sources & bacteria. Humans have strong livers which suggests, along with their ability to smell & recognise rotting flesh that they are scavenger type animals. Our closest relatives are Chimps, omnivores. Meat eating is in human physiology, DNA & history. If a vegan suggests we’re not made for meat tell them to chew the meat off those bones. Sad ****s can’t change who we are but they can accept what they are.
A mate describes cancer as a piece of. Chewing gum going round and round all our bodies. On some of us it sticks to summat. Doesn't matter what. Bollocks. Breasts. Colon, Whatever were all susceptible. Your dad lived till 99. So what you're going at 58. Just enjoy the ride
If you ask me, the whole McDonald clan should have been charged and convicted of being mass murderers/cereal killers. They should have been tossed into a mincer and made into quarter-pounders. In their defense, it's not the meat wot done it. It's the excess of cardboard they throw into their products !!! please log in to view this image
Funny isn't it. I start a threat about a ridiculous media statement, and then lerds feel the need to somehow transform it into an attack on vegans!! Raw nerve. God there's some ****e written above: Cats play with mice and birds ... so it's ok then. Point proven eh! . Need to eat animals to get B12?!! Where do animals get it from? Incisors? Compare our teeth with that of a true meat eating animal and you'll see what meat eating incisors look like. Ours are for puncturing / coping with fruit (not mentioned either the way our jaws move being completely different to that of flesh eating animals). . IF we came from apes? Chimps (and others mentioned) are omnivores - yes some are occasionally known to eat certain other animals or insects, but are primarily designed and do eat fruit. They certainly don't breed meat for their pleasure and consumption, they don't separate young at birth, they don't castrate / perpetually impregnate / brand / debeek / ......, and they don't send fellow animals in holocaust trucks to be hung upside down and chainsawed in a slaughter house. etc etc Most of you know deep down what is right and wrong. Ciao. .
Animals get B12 from Holland & Barretts. Educate us, where do they get it from? Ok, I’ll tell you. They eat ****. Crack on. You got the last line right Me right, you wrong.
