Thanks for your post, Sooper and please accept my condolences. The point you make is a very good one. From a personal point of view, after experiencing a very difficult year myself, I can tell you it really does make you stop, wake up a bit and realise that not only can we not do what we use to do, I do not take so many things for granted any more ..................... and I now find more appreciation in the smaller things in life. I still might sound off once in a while but overall, I'm noticing, more so my wife is noticing that I've realise we are not so bullet proof these days. I'd like to think that I listen to others more nowadays .......................... guess it is all part of reaching a certain age and for want of a better word, finally growing up. Kiwi, you make a very good point as well, mate.................. life is too short.
Condolences Sooper but also thank you for the post....and from all the other posters. Very very important words. In 1991 I had a very major loss in my life.... a friend gave me a poem, which I have kept with me in my heart since that day "live your life as though it is your last... but better still than that live each day as though it is your first" Do not put things off, the sands of time slip through your fingers very quickly ......................enjoy every new day as though it is new and fresh.....and never ruin your life through regrets....do everything, experience everything (write the bad ones off as mistakes, but do not regret...it is all an experience)....and majorly do not hold grudges. I am looking forward to meeting you Sooper next week
My sincere condolences on your loss - I'm one of that crowd turning 60 in December! Hopefully I will make it back to Loftus Road (or new stadium) before I get called away. I used to have a recurring dream where I died in 2037, aged 84 - my Dad, a lifelong R (as was his Dad) died aged 77 and always said, three score years & ten, and everything else is bonus (7 years in his case).
Once again, my sincere thanks for all of your kind words - I'd hoped my post would prove thought-provoking and your responses make me proud to be part of our forum family. I'll certainly be looking forward to Saturday...
