**rant alert** The budget was a bitter tasting attempt at a placebo by a desperate government who are thinking about little else except the next election. They've done their popularity attempt while compromising their austerity measures as far as they reasonably could at a price of helping absolutely no one. The national debt will not be reduced. There is very little to aid the economy if you consider that even big companies are going under (the help for the few remaining small companies is too little too late). The reduction in beer will not result in a reduction in price but will offer pubs an extra 0.3% profit when their suppliers will still increase prices by nearly 3% inflation. This after years of pubs folding. The "average" person makes an extra few quid a year but the cost of living rises by more. This has no benefit but to stretch people's finances for an elongated period with no prosperity in medium term sight. Instead of cutting back wholesale and living to their means, it risks them sliding gradually into more debt (without encouraging anyone to actually spend enough to boost the economy out of stagnation). It was bang splat in the middle when it should have been extreme - either tax more to allow savings now and future investment at an earlier stage or invest now, heavily in the people, businesses and an upturn (a bit of a gamble admittedly). It's like trying to get round a monopoly board with hotels loaded on every square hoping someone lands on yours while avoiding the penalties yourself. Before anyone shouts political bias, I have no doubt the others would do exactly the same in reversed roles. I'm no economist so am probably wrong but I don't think this was pitched for anyone else's benefit except the ruling party's. **rant over**
What sadistic mental torture you engage in. Do us all a favour: Unhitch your flying Donkey and disappear back to the middle ages you primordial, rustic imbecile.
Maybe not exactly qualunquista but i can't seem to make a fist against these people as i used to. I understand the anger of the taxpayer like SB73 but I also understand that Politics no longer carries the power we think they themselves are just greedy puppets with big egos. Life today maybe each of us should be like the Artist Taxi Driver but boil that down its just a very enjoyable and true outlet rant. Hypocrisy also ... I want to escape again to France and bury my head and when the green light are lit I will be off and insulated from the **** that will continue for years to come. At times i want to March again but for what? What difference does it make?
Can't agree with this as IMAZ knows his onions whereas yours seem to be sweating nicely in your own tena pants: please log in to view this image Both you boys should get on better!

I have to admit that my main thought about the budget was why were 5Live talking to Finney about it? There was a trailer in the morning that I'm convinced was him, and then they definitely spoke to him in the afternoon.
Imaz will turn any politics thread into his own load of bollocks thread, thats just the way he is i'm afraid
As I said above DT, I have no problem in paying tax, just keen to make sure we get value from it. For example, the BBC budget calculator tells me that my household is 1650 quid worse off since yesterday (mostly it seems due to wine consumption, will have to switch to beer at home...). This equates to about a terms worth of state education for one pupil - great if its good quality. But how much of it will go towards the 5.7m (2009) of public funds spent on bars and catering in The Houses of Parliament? Might help towards Ed Joyce's bar bills....
What most irks me about where our cash goes is that countries with ****ing SPACE PROGRAMS are being given aid.
