Well this is a strange position for England to be in......a lead of 239 on 1st innings, skip decided to bat again......look to add another 180 - 200 then bowl again before tea? Good 5 for by the Burnley Lara/Express......
Everything's gone perfectly for Cook so far in this match. Need to score some quick runs now - maybe move Buttler up the order?
i would have made them follow on - they must be fresh after a night's sleep. The Indians will now bowl defensively - try to get them driving.
I think Broad might be carrying a slight injury and it's been very hot. I can see why they didn't enforce the follow on, it will only become an issue if they don't score quickly and don't leave enough time to bowl them out. Lots of flashing blades and get them back in 40mins before tea.
Lead of 319 at lunch. another 100-150, then give the bowlers a good four sessions plus change to bowl them out.
I always think 125 per session is average to good. So a really gung ho approach and we can get the lead to around 400 and have 30mins bowling at them before tea. Trouble is using the 125 per session average would also mean there is time for them to reach our total. Might be more like an hour after tea then put them in. Hard one to call especially if Broad isn't 100%. Gotta take my boy to the park for a bit so I'll be interested to see the state of the game when I get back.
Tipping along at 4 an over at the moment so another 15 - 20 overs would see England close to 450 which is ample to defend......Get them batting again before tea..... Bell gone now.....effectively 345 - 3......
Lead currently 417. Given the 10 minute break between innings, would it be sensible to slog everything for the next 20 minutes, declare at half past so that we get an early tea, then get an extra long session from 3:50 to rip into the Indian batsmen?
