Before responding to this post, I'd like to thank you for your continued interest in this. Your candour is really appreciated Griff. In my mind you're simply voicing what others think - but, because of my perceived 'status' on here, are reluctant to say themselves. (FYI, the status thing does nothing for me tbh, all I want to do is play my part in ensuring the continued existence of a quality Rangers forum.) I understand people thinking I'm a sensitive sausage who'd kick back at a bit of critical feedback, especially after my response to Swords on this thread. However, I do worry that all the praise and platitudes I get mask levels of misunderstanding of considerations etc. that could do with a bit of an unguarded airing. As for me giving the impression that I'm being 'hung up' on what he said a week ago, or holding 'a grudge' against Swords, I ain't got time for all that! It's not him I'm in awe of, it's the vocal support he gets when he gets another ban. Unlike Swords, mods are restricted in our decision making by it's potential impact on an otherwise pretty harmonious board. All takes far too much time investigating, considering, expediting and then... explaining over and over again - like we're in the frame and not poor old Swords!! Strange as it may seem, there's never been any real animosity between Swords and me. PMs always respectful, amicable even, both ways. It's just that he doesn't want moderation and I'm a gatekeeper. My moan is that if and when he returns, he and the rest of you need to be more conscious of the reasons for keeping him on the tracks, instead of all this constant crash, burn and laugh it off business; and taking the 'cleaning staff' for granted.
Thanks DT. Now is clearly an opportunity for a bit of the positively liberating free speech you espouse. Attempt to move away from the two quietly intransigent opposing camps we've had to deal with to date. All good, if we can keep it respectful.
I should get 100 warnings, then a dozen small bans before a permanent ban like he did. Of course he will be banned soon so there will be no need for the other 99 warnings.
The silly season's been ongoing for far too long when it comes to Swords' & Co's impact on this otherwise fairly moderate board though Stan. You're right of course, a few rules have been broken in the course of our deliberations. Not condoning any breach of our rules, including my own, but I'm not surprised at Imaz and Flyer joining in. Both took huge exception to being targetted by Swords and are just two of a few who feel he's been allowed to get away with too much for too long. Similar numbers of users feel strongly the other way which from a mod angle is such a testing rock and a hard place space to occupy. My fault entirely. Northolt and I should've taken decisive action the minute we produced the first version of the board's rules - but didn't realise the medium to long term implications, it being an internet forum an' all. I'm sure the new mods will have learned from our error, and act against audacity before the perpetrator amasses a significant following to muddy the waters. Meantime I'm hoping some frank discussion on matters of principle with me out of mod role, will help us all appreciate cost, find some better accord and exorcise some of our underlying demons. We'll see. Doesn't hurt to talk about it though.
On even more miserable matters Brix, will you be attending the last rites at LR on Sunday? I think a melancholy pint at the Conningham will be in order......
The way I see it, lots of people drink happily in a pub, one idiot comes in and tries to start a fight, hes threatened with a ban but apologises so is allowed to come back, this happens a dozen times before one of those targeted has enough and calls the guy a prick. Then some lunatic in the corner who talks to himself asks that this guy whos had enough be banned from the pub even though hes been drinking there for a long time and never had a problem with anyone apart from the guy trying to start a fight with everyone. Then he finally decides to start a fight with the landlord and people still dont want him barred? Bizarre. The choices are to ban everyone in the pub who is targeted or ban the idiot trying to start a fight with everyone. Theres only 2 people Ive thought should be banned from this board, 2 chesea fans and the other one may have been banned too. He wasnt even good at trolling. Just sad.

Can't have you all travelling all the way down from middle earth (and the emerald isle in Fingy's case), and the bloke from Brixton can't be arsed to drag himself out of the doldrums. Just don't seem right, do it?!
I doubt Im going to make it, Beth is up all night watching women run around in their underwear, I asked if it was paid and if bringing along binoculars was allowed but she didnt take me seriously. Why should I be arsed to make an effort to get their if the players cannot be arsed to turn up on the day? Id still go though if i lived in London but Im not going to burn another £30 on these wasters.
No problem Brix! I suppose it's easy for us swords apologists to sit back and enjoy his mischief, safe in the knowledge that we'll never have to deal with the repercussions of it. We've got great mods on this board, all the hard work is always much appreciated!
