Nets?
That's the one ! Goalnets were first invented by John Alexander Brodie and first used for a competitive match in 1891 in Nottingham - a representative match between the north and south of England - the first person in history to 'put the ball in the net' was Fred Geary. Over to you Grinning.
A farmer, being asked what number of animals he kept, answered:
'They're all horses but two, all sheep but two, and all pigs but two.'
How many did he have?
Correct, over to you3 - one of each ? Unfortunately the miserable north won 3-0.
Cardiff, because they're Welsh and played Rugby before Football?...
Nope, not Cardiff. The club is English.
It can't be Preston as they arn't in the Premier League.
First game in the 1860's rules out most teams, so as the oldestLondon club I'll go for Fulham.
I can only guess that the ball burst on kick off.
Aston Villa?
That's the one nines. Aston Villa's first ever match was against Aston Brook St. Mary's Rugby team - the condition was that they played rugby for the first half and football in the second. Astonishingly Villa kept a clean sheet in the Rugby part and then won 1-0 in the second half. I made a slight mistake on the date, it was in 1875. Over to you.
