I had the original vinyl album in 1972 as I was into Hawkwind, ELP and Yes who were all exploring new sounds...

To be fair ELPs version of Pictures at an Exhibition led me to classical music, so its churlish of me to take the piss. I also made a stack selling all of my prog rock in 1975, and investing the proceeds in straight leg jeans

Tonto's Expanding Head Band

Who? What? Why?

At last!...<doh>

The Original New Timbral Orchestra (TONTO) was the first and still largest multi timbral polyphonic analogue synthesiser in the world. The other component parts of Tonto's Expanding Headband were Malcolm Cecil who built it over several years and Robert Margoulleff who produced the records.

Here's my favourite track from the album which still has an 'other world' feel to it over 40 years later...

They did all die in the end but your interpretation of a weird haircut may vary from mine!

That was part of the reason for stating it Stan. I used to complain to Brixton about the word association thread but he liked it as it kept the numbers up. It does nothing for me, although I used to report the significant page numbers to Northolt.

Don't deserve to set this one, but still.
