So this is mostly for our Aussie cousins, but what is special about the houses or huts that are located on the beach in Royal National Park, about an hours drive south of Sydney? (I tried to upload a picture in order to do a guess the location as well, but my picture file is too big - help!!)

Are they all under some kind of National heritage protection ?
Just in case this thread is taken over by a German Watford fan....they are temporary shacks that were used as miners homes or holiday getaways during the depression, they are often still have the facilities of 40s and 50sand are now under state protection as a national heritage, however they remain in family ownership.

Nice one Beth - the unique thing about them is that they are only allowed to be passed on from family member to family member in a will, they can't be passed on to any one outside the family tree. The beach is stunningly beautiful, well worth a visit (even if it does take an hour or two to hike to it) - absolutely deserted, and incredibly peaceful.
