Not expecting the quote to directly take me to the answer ....I googled the quote...so I now know the answer...but am not going to cheat on this....as the result has left me none the wiser.

It was actually "The Fountainhead" that I read, appropriately while taking an architecture course at university. I may have started "Atlas Shrugged", but don't believe I finished it.
