Nice bit of teamwork, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, also known as The Brickyard, has fixed, permanent seats for 250,000 people. And they fill them for the Indy 500, mainly with drunken rednecks, its a great laugh.

Sooper I think earns it, technically the sport is IndyCar (where they look a bit like F1 cars) rather than Nascar.

What links the following names and, if you get it, what is the next name in the sequence?

    Fitzgerald, Baines, Milhous, Rudolph, Earl...

    Stroller has it:

    John Fitzgerald Kennedy
    Lyndon Baines Johnson
    Richard Milhous Nixon
    Gerald Rudolph Ford
    James Earl Carter

The next in the sequence is Wilson which was Ronald Reagan's middle name.

Ironically the very last in the sequence is Hussein, a bit close to Saddam, which is Barack Obama's middle name...

....Ford, Carter, Reagan. So the answer is Wilson, which I had to Google, I'm afraid.

Ok, I'm looking for the name of someone who backed Gene Vincent and played alongside Ritchie Blackmore before going on, in a changed career course, to perform at the Spotted Dog in Neasden (random, I know, but I used to drink there). He later collaborated in an FA cup final song.
