Rather wishing I hadn't asked that now. There seem to be 3 possible answers and strangely enough that isn't one of them.

That's me trying without the help of Google. If its not that one, I'm struggling, because it has to be transcontinental with a special name and I can't think of any others. Thought the Trans Siberian was a railway, but I'll punt for that. Might be one that goes around the coast of Australia which would be pretty long too.
 
Highway 1 in Australia is approx 9,000 miles long, dwarfing the Trans-Siberia Highway (6,800) and Trans-Canada (5,000)

I'm going back to thinking this is a crap question, as it covers roads and networks of road and let's just draw a line under this and move on......
 
I've actually hitched and bussed quite a lot of that road in Australia, nearly 3 decades ago.
