It looks very similar to a place I visited in 1987 called Jameos Del Agua and Le Cuaves de los verdes in the north of Lanzarote? A sort of pretty grotto.

    Those are separate places.

The Cueva de los Verdes, Green's Caves is where the locals used to hide from pirates the other side of what appeared to be a huge impenetrable cavern but was actually only few inches of water reflecting a massive dome above.

The Jameos del Agua is a "mad made" attraction in a lava tunnel. This looks like the section where the blind crabs are?

    You've got it Nines.

When we visited the caves it was darker than appears in the photo, and, when we were invited to walk the path along the cave wall, we were very nervous about the danger of walking a path with no fencing to protect us on from the drop to the cave floor 50 feet below. It was only when somebody threw a pebble into the "abyss" that we realised that it was an optical illusion whereby the pool of water 2 or 3 feet below us was reflecting the ceiling of the cave.

    Over to you.

They are pretty close together as I recall though aren't they mate?

That's right, I remember that now. It was my first holiday with my girlfriend ( now Mrs Nines ) and after seeing the optical illusion she threw a stone in to prove it. Just as we walked away a tour guide and her party showed up and had her party piece ruined. I still feel bad about that to this day. I shall remind my wife about this in the morning, but she'll just chuckle about it.

    Thank you.

What is the name given to the large indent in the base of a wine bottle called? ( Very apt question in 'Nines's Tower's' right now. <cheers>)

    Kiwi's out so I'll have a go.

At the beginning of her speech tonight, Queen Elizabeth remarked about a King who was killed 1,000 years ago this month.

    What was his name?

I only know one Irish King's name so I'll go Brian Boru. Did read somewhere that at one (early) stage Ireland had 500 Kings for its 150,000 population. So thats why you have 500 counties.......

Correct! They're marking the event here in Swords, where he was waked after the battle:

    http://www.fingal.ie/news-and-events/blog/swords-1014-commemoration/

It was funny, slightly surreal actually, when last night I picked up a leaflet from inside the door with the above information on it and just as I was looking at it, I flicked on the TV and at that exact moment the Queen of England was talking about it!

Possibly. But it was bunkum :emoticon-0105-wink:

A quote, to sum up the mood of many QPR supporters at present:

" I have of late, where for I know not, lost all my mirth"

Where's it from? (Its a 30 second google search, be interested if anyone actually knows it).
