Read an article last year comparing Fergie and Busby, it said Busby was the only manager in history to have 3 European footballers of the Year in one team, each winning it whilst the other two were in the team. Law, Best and Charlton.

Which league team finished 2nd in their divison six successive seasons without gaining promotion in the time when only one team was promoted?...

No, it is a current Football League team and it was in one of the four separate divisions at that time. A clue is QPR were in this division at that time...

I looked up the old 3rd division south and presume it is Plymouth Argyle you are referring to, poor buggers!
Couldnt help noticing that after a bright start when we came 2nd, our performances gradually deteriorated as you would come to expect and came bottom twice in the first six seasons; luckily they didn't introduce relegation I think ( or was it a playoff?) until season 7, so now we know where we used up all our good luck reserves

The borders of which African country are said to have been established by the amount of land that could be controlled by the range of a British gunboat?

I've been there, but on an extremely idle 'do nothing on the beach' week, so can't say I know the place.

Which country had the following officially recognised languages:

    Latin
    Hebrew
    Ruthenian
    German
    Armenian
    Polish

Probably way out but I'm going for one of the baltic states. Latvia, Estonia or Lithuania.

I'm assuming that Latin & Hebrew could have been anywhere but Polish & German may well have been in that area.

Ruthenian, I have to admit I have never heard of!
