Gordon Jago was the name I was looking for, played for them in the fifties before moving to Charlton.

For all other Dulwich questions I defer to Mr Sooperhoop.

    Your go Terry.

The old Champion Hill ground had a capacity of around 25,000 and there were several Isthmain League matches between Hamlet and local rivals Nunhead in the 20s & 30s that drew crowds over 20,000...

    Thanks sb.

I do agree with you that Mr. Jago was a very important man in our history & my favourite manager.

Sticking with questions concerning ex amateur clubs. Disregarding the original sides like Old Carthusians etc. I believe only two clubs that won the FA Amateur Cup have appeared in the final of the FA Cup.

    Please name them.

I know Wimbledon are the only club to have won both. Is the other Clapton (later Leyton) Orient?...

I hadn't considered Orient, but I don't think that Clapton made an FA Cup Final. My apologies if i'm wrong.

Yes Wimbledon won both wheres the other side lost in the final of the FA Cup. They still have the same name as when they won the Amateur, so I hope that the club is still the same!

Queen's Park? They played in the early FA Cup years even though they're Scottish...

Seeing that the Northeast has always had a presence in the Amateur Cup with Bishop Auckland, Crook Town and Spennymoor regularly winning it I'd guess Middlesbrough...

    Over to you Sooperhoop.

They won it twice in the 1800's & then let us down by losing to our friends from the District Line in the 1990's!

Continuing the 'Cup' theme, name the striker who scored nine goals in a FA Cup match in 1971...

    Thanks Sooper.

The Football League changed from Division 3 North & South to having a Division 4 in the late 50's. Who was the first club to reach the 1st Division having played in the 4th?

BTW, I saw in today's non-league paper that Dulwich Hamlet's future is in doubt. Is there any truth to this? It would be a great loss if one of the top old "amateur" clubs were to go. Apart from the fact I never saw my team lose there (against Hamlet or Casuals)!

Northampton Town, I remember them being in the top division in the mid 60s...

The stories about Hamlet have been circulating for yonks and will continue for yonks, very complicated to explain briefly...

    Back to you Sooper.

They managed to drop back to the 4th even quicker than they went up!

Swansea did similarly in the late 70s/early 80s.

Which three grounds used in the 1966 World Cup no longer exist?...
