Yes SB, the track 'Jubilee Street' is great and has another particularly Cave lyric 'I've got a foetus on a leash' ....... No idea what he's on but if my kids hate it I must, by the rule of inverse popularity, be amazingly cool. Or just a 46 year old bloke with long hair and and claret addiction

Apologies btw for not making pub yesterday, parental old folks to take care of. I shall of course be sampling the first pie of the away season at Huddersfield, I do hope some of you can make it

Can I also add Passenger's cd 'All the little lights' to the list - got it Friday and its not half bad

IMO, Rodgers is the best living British rock singer bar none.

I do not mind your music at all, actually. I'd probably dance to it in a club. But I'm quite picky when it comes to EDM. Although I love some of it.

I did indeed swiftly finish that cider beverage and my bike has a bit of zip to it as well!

I used to have that album on CD! It just brought memories back! Although I wasn't a huge fan of it. I actually bought it simply because the artwork was done by the same guy who did the artwork for a lot of Yes albums, amongst other bands. I love Yes! They're my favourite band without a doubt. In fact, I'll post a video of them later, when I can get on my laptop.

Today's album choices have been two of my personal long-standing favourites:-

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights
    Pavement - Brighten the Corners

Both ones I stick on for nostalgia and sheer quality.

2 bloody good albums, Matt. I listen to a lot of Indy and dance music, it's an antidote to a lot of the Country music I'm force fed at work. Some of it can be eerily haunting though:

Johnny Cash's voice works so much better than Sting's does, in my opinion.

But if you ever hear about a British barman going psycho in Houston, it'll be because I heard this one too many times...:

I'm hoping I didn't dream this, but I remember walking back to Harlesden from LR after a saturday game sometime in the seventies and there was a free concert happening on the Scrubs, which turned out to be Hawkwind. Anyone else remember this?

My musical tastes vary widely, as long as I can avoid Country music and Men At Work's "Down Under"...

Love listening to the Foo Fighters any time, really like all the early Police stuff, Two Tone and that kind of thing. Favorite band, however is The Psychedelic Furs, who I have seen a few times and have been delighted to join in a few 'after-show' sessions in the bar. They are all great people, still loving their work. And there's nothing at all "generic" about them, which I really like.

That would be a bit before my 'Hawkwind' days mate but wouldn't suprise me. I went to their 40th Anniversary gig a few years ago at Porchester Hall, Paddington (Which was amazing), so I think they played a lot around the area in the 70's.
Everytime I see them, they never cease to amaze me with their visuals , sounds and stage dancers. Truly a sensual overload :)

Preferred acoustic Dylan but still very much into the progressive folk bands of the late 60's. Fairports (especially the Dave Swarbrick years), Pentangle etc. A few weeks ago though I dragged out the Incredible String Band vinyl album 'I Looked Up'. Apart from 'Black Jack Davey' I did question why I spent my hard earned on this album. They were a good live band back in the days of yore.

Being a Blue's fan I will seek out 'Electric Mud'.

    Good Thread AW.

Nice one Wubba. Good bit of Chicago Blues to help my lunch go down. Dave Kelly and Paul Jones do a good version of this. A large slice of the Blues is about love gone bad.

Hawkwind were part of the scene in Ladbroke Grove in the very early 70s along with the brilliant Pink Fairies. Several of the bands were signed to United Artists who organised tours under 'The Greasy Truckers' name...

    This is classic Pink Fairies...

I've said it before and I'll reiterate - I reckon we're pretty similar musically.

Was listening to the Foos on my way home on Friday and had Psychedelic Furs on for my walk to work this morning.

Don't know too much of the latter but do need the odd fix of Sister Europe.

The Pink Fairies have a respected place in punk history, love this song by Larry Wallis. Just the hair to change .....

'Liege and Leaf' is an incredible album; and sounds really good listened too in the same session as Zeppelin IV.

Probably not that obscure but have you heard Love's 'Forever Changes'? Great album.

I'm not a big Snow Patrol fan but Gary Lightbody's vocals on the new Tired Pony ' The Ghost of the Mountain' album are pretty good. Worth a listen.

The Laura Veirs album 'Warp & Weft' not bad if a little folky too

Anyone got any new stuff they can recommend?

Enjoy a great array of music, Radiohead (surprised not mentioned already?), Foo Fighters, Nirvana (acoustic versions are awesome), Dylan (his early stuff), early Bowie, also enjoy Blues, so thanks guys will check out "Electric Mud".
