Probably as much as this: http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2014/apr/29/armed-to-the-milk-teeth-america-gun-toting-kids You were the one advocating a 30 year sentence for a 15 year old, not me. Here in Europe we are more civilised as I previously explained. Hope that helps
Good posts from sb_73 and 4StringR. Tbh I didn't really give much thought when linking this story to the thread, being a bit lazy I just assumed it would be interesting to this thread. I apologise if doing so has annoyed anyone on here and will give a bit more thought before doing the same in the future! One last note, I have not posted anywhere on this thread saying I think religion has anything to do with it.
No worries mate, please don't take response as criticism, and threads will always wander, its a part of their beauty. I just wanted to separate this particular incident from the very justified broader concerns about violence in schools.
Cheers bud. I'm more cross with myself as my linked post does not in anyway represent any opinion of my own on this matter. In future I will step back and give a bit more thought before slapping something down and posting it.
Healthy debate is good. One person's "perception" can be reality until debate allows people to debate with facts, experiences and opinions, there are no black and white, right and wrong answers in life to be honest. This is a very sad case, I am more concerned with the media and the authorities hijacking a tragic situation and using it as ammunition to continue to challenge the right of people to build, support and attend faith schools.
While I entirely agree that the type of school this happened in is probably entirely irrelevant and the incident should certainly not be used to have a go at faith schools, I'm sure there is a healthy debate to be had about 'the right of people to build, support and attend faith schools' in general........but probably not on this thread.
I wasn't aware that anyone was using this terrible incident to attack faith schools 4String - do you have any examples? My personal belief is that there should be no such thing as faith schools, but it seems to me that this tragedy could have happened anywhere.
I don't care what warped motive the lad thought he had, there is no excuse for repeatedly stabbing a defenceless 61 year old woman to death. Hang the little bastard!
I know, he seems to have an unhealthy fascination for the US. Mind you I feel safer walking about in Manhattan at night than I do walking arouind the Bush these days.
