We bumped into Colin McRae's chief engineer one year and he joined in with our party. At 4:30 in the morning we piled 11 people into a hired people carrier and he was driving. We lifted the concrete barrier out the way and got onto the track. First hairpin bend he buried it into a gravel trap so when we slid the door open, the gravel came in.

Scratching at someones tent to borrow the Land Rover to pull us out.

He still hasn't lived the incident down :)

They get desperate late on according to my brother. If the arrests are low, they will literally go on a pulling over frenzy. Their theory is that if you stop enough cars one of them must be doing something wrong, whether that be drugs, drink or just your car not being roadworthy in some way. I commented to my brother that this is why everyones hates the police because they spend way too much time worrying about statistics instead of actually stoppping real crime. He said "yeah but if your wage and job depended on those staistics, would you give a **** about anything else?" Hard to argue with but I suppose we all hope that some of them got into the profession to make a difference!!

I've been on two which is lucky as you normally only get one chance.
Pretty boring to be honest. Show videos on speeding and you have to do mock Hazard Perception tests.
Free Tea and Coffee tho :emoticon-0148-yes:

Feck all, not even an iced bun or cheese scone. Tea/coffee from a vending machine too. We all know the sort, brown water with no taste of tea, coffee or anything in particular. Personally I considered taking them to a tribunal for failing to provide adequate welfare. It was the lack of scones that upset me given it was mid afternoonish on completion and therefore ripe for a hot buttered cheese scone.

The bloke we had recommended a van round the corner which did Indian takeaways, I had a pelican tikka which was fantastic.

The bill was a bit hefty mind you.

From what i've heard being nice to the instructor is almost as important as your driving, my sister crashed into a bollard but because she talking to the instructor about his kids she passed (the lucky cow).

I actually was caught doing 33mph in a 30mph zone. That's how I ended up on the Speed awareness the first time. They only offer it to you
if a marginally over the speed limit.

Edit. That 10% lee-way is only applicable in non-built up areas ie motorways and dual carriage ways.
In fact it is normally 10% +2 mph.
