Got my driving test tomorrow :S

    Nervous lol.

I was on my way to passing last test but some arsehole smacked into the back of the car. The test went down as a no result but I got £1800 compensation.

I got points on my license, didn't get the option of speed awareness course. Was 42 mph on the M25 (had been reduced to a 30 due to road works), bit of a pisser getting done for speeding on a motorway at that speed.

Got pulled over in France at a toll booth. The speed limit was 130kph and I was clocked at 193 kph.

My lack of understanding of French and the shock of finding that my car was faster than the specification stated. Seemed to sway the gendarme in my favour when I pointed out that the car was only supposed to be capable of 180kph.

90 Euro fine and told to drive slower.

We used to go to Le Man every year for the race and the crew I used to travel with had very nice cars (I always seemed to draw the short straw and drive the bloody Transit though...) and the sight of them haring past me at 220+kph always made me smile.

Managed to blag a Lotus Exige one year for the trip and had a whale of a time racing to the campsite. First car there would win a meal for two in London.

Load of ****e. They'll lecture you for a while and then try and tell you how they'll show you how you can quciker on the roads than ever before. Only to reveal they are on about the 10% who everyone and their granny already knows about! You then do a bit of pushing buttons on a remote to test your knowledge but there is no pass/fail scenario.

They give you free coffee though to get you through the boredom.

Sounds like the year I went when it bucketed down the entire 5 days and I was forced to spend all the engagement ring money on beer... She's still annoyed about that and it was 10 years ago :)

I've been pulled over for doing 32 in a 30. It was 11.30pm at night and they were just hoping for an arrest of some description. Having a brother as a policeman I was well aware what their game was. I made reference to it being down to stats in a jovial way and ended up getting breathalysed! I'd had a can aswell. I think they said the limit was 35 or something and mine came back 7.

Not a fan of the police full stop despite plenty in the family being part of one force or another in the country. They have monsterous egos which get in the way of doing their job properly. When you need them to, they tend to be useless. Maybe I've just had bad luck. The best tip I've ever been given with regards to the police is that when they pull you over, switch your engine off, get out and approach them. if you sit in your car and just wind down your window, it pisses them off supposedly.

A mate of mine is a magnet to the police to be breathalysed. It must be his driving style so he opted to start asking if he could keep the plastic tube you blow through and would then blu-tack them on his dashboard. After 7 months he covered the dashboard!

One night driving back he was pulled over 100 meters from the pub we'd left. He was fine as he hadn't touched a drop. Drove on another 9 miles and pulled over again. He carried on after dropping me off and was pulled again.

    3 times in 17 miles.
